For me, it's tough to do much during the week, so it would have to be a non-all-you-can-play-for-ten-bones weekend. That being said, I may be interested if the stars aligned and I could make it at the designated time.

However, it is more economical to just go to an all you can play night. And what would Chuck's be without the possibility of spotting Napoleon Dynamite?

Well I think one problem you may have is there are only really 3-4 STL BYOAC's who would be going?  And like LL said, it would be much more economical to just all meet up on one of his open nights.  You get 6 hours for $10/person.  If you rented the place for 4 hours (I'm never there much longer than 4 hrs.) thats $200/4 = $50 per person.  If there were more people around who would be interested the economies of scale kick in a bit and make it more affordable but I just dont know know who that would be?  It would be nice to be able to hear the audio on the machines.  If I had one complaint its that you can hardly hear the audio, which I think is a neat part of the games.

I think LL told me something about the Dogpatch arcade before.......and something wasnt very flattering.  I think he said about 80% of the machines didnt work and something about an old chain-smoking hag working behind the counter who paid no never mind to his complaints regarding token eating skeeball machines.

I'm assuming there is more than one arcade in the Dogpatch then.....

There must be more than one because you wouldn't mistake the one I was alking about with anything flattering. It is the one with the bumber cars (they probably don't work either). They have around 20 arcade games and I'd say maybe 5 or 6 are functional...not pristine, but functional. The skeeball was a travesty...just aweful, and they only charge a dime...not worth a dime.

The kids wanted to go on the way home but I told them we would opt for Miner Mike's instead. Of course it wasn't open when we got there and I wasn't going to wait around for an hour. So I was a-hole dad because I didn't want to deal with Gilbert Grape's chain smoking mom at dogpatch.

It was for sure the dogpatch arcade, the bumper cars were on the strip but not near this place IIRC.

No smoking in this place, just lots of nice clean arcades with bright crisp monitors.

All the racers you could want, there was a elvira, T2, IJ & SP there. Not many classics other than the regular DK, pacman & galaga but no golden tee. I liked it but then again I really enjoy Hydro thunder, off road challenge, cruisn world, San Fransisco rush & all the bike games that I cannot fit in my basement.

It was a good weekend of booze, arcades, Shoney's breakfast & jumping yacht waves of ecoli in a jetski.

I am now so sore its impossible to even consider playing arcade games tho.

I'll have to look for that place next summer. Is it on the same side of the road as the bumpercar shitbox? The place I am referring to is arcade hell...those games must've done some really bad things to end up there. >:D

Totally unrelated to anything in this forum but I finally, finally finally had the yard completed...Flake's comment on my HGTV snafu reminded me.

All the old grass was ripped out, TWO massive tandem dump trucks of dirt were brought in (the little pile in the pic was the last of it brought in from the street), all gutters linked to underground drains with flush ground mounted float up caps to release the water & then 10 pallets of sod.... snaps!!!!

The basement will never flood now!

The deck & patio will not be a reality for several years... We have decided to do some jedi ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- to our mortgage instead.

Now me, I would rather take out a HELOC & buy 30 pinball machines but property values, my GF & knowing right from wrong say "no dice".

 :(

I will post a pic of the greenery tomorrow, its looks good.....it would look better with a deck, patio, some lighting, an outdoor kegerator, a hammock & fire pit in case you guys wanted to get me a Christmas gift.

Hey STLdorks- question for ya.

What are the main coin op hangouts in the area? I'll be moving to Edwardsville (I've been told its only about 25 minutes from STL) next fall for college and I'll need a place relatively close to blow off some steam once and a while.

http://www.cppinball.com/

Its mostly pinball but he has multicades and a Mame machine or two there as well.  For $10 you cant beat it and the best part is you can bring in your own booze.  Its actually very close to SIUE.  Probabaly wouldnt take you more than 20 minutes to get there depending on where you are living in Edwardsville.  Welcome to the area BTW.

Ya CP is the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, #1 in my book....several multicades & lots of pins like Flake said.

You can also be a sellout & go to dave & Busters to play Daytona USA, pool, shuffleboard & a few modern shooter & racer games. The food there is pretty good, they sell booze.

Welcome to STL, now get yourself some Lions Choice, Imo's & White castles.

Agreed.  You should have all those in Edwardsville if I remember correctly.  If your into finer dining for a date or something I would recommend a place called Bella Milano's.  Its located by the High School.  Pretty good italian food.

Also, another place you are fairly close to is Fast Eddies Bonaire.  You should definitely check that place out, its in Alton.  Here's a Saturday recommendation for you.  On a Saturday that CP Pinball is open, go hit up Fast Eddies around noon or so.  Stay till about 5-6pm (or go across the street to the Alton Belle for a little afternoon blackjack) and then on your way back to Edwardsville hit CP Pinball for a few hours.  At that point in the night you might not be very good at pinball or videogames but you should have a helluva day.   8)

Awesome! I'd rather be playing a pin than any vid any day. I won't be in the area until next fall, but I'm pretty excited to be going down there.

Re White Castle: I've had some baaaad experiences with WC. Granted that was one in Indianapolis, but still...

You dorks are assuming he is 21 or older. Did they mention CP's is $10 to get in and all machines are set to free play?

Alright Flake and/or PW79...here is your golden opportunity to not be poontangs:

I'd buy it myself if I hadn't just bought ToM...or if I had a buyer for ES and a couple grand laying around.

Hehe. Well, give me a couple years. I think I saw the $10 for unlimited play somewhere in the thread. Definitely looking forward to that.

I only know that Carl guy....I dont have his number but pretty much every arcade seller out here recommends him.

If you cant wait for me to get around to locating a # for him I know Rich @ arcades & more will recommend him to you if you call for service work.

Shoot an email to Chuck...perhaps he has a referral source.

Oh ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- I forgot to mention it to you.  I got there around noon.  About the same as last time.  You didnt miss anything.  The auction was 90% over when I got there if that tells you anything.  I happened to notice the same buyer number 111 on several of the maybe 15 pinball machines for sale so buybacks were the rule.

If there were 15 pinballs, that would surpass the combined total of every other auction since the good one last November.

Oh well, I don't need any new toys anyway. I'm gonna spend the winter trying out Hyperspin and retrofitting the CP on my mame and working ut the bugs in ES just in time to sell/trade it.

If there were 15 pinballs, that would surpass the combined total of every other auction since the good one last November.

yea but the pinballs were mostly newer Sterns that you wouldnt buy anyway.  Like Monopoly, SouthPark, Elvis, etc.  There was also terrible condition Taxi, some Sega games like Space Jam.  There was also a Twister and some older crappy conditioned games that I dont even remember the names of.  Oh, there was also a WCS94 but it was not in very good shape either.  It was a bad lot.  Except for maybe the Monopoly, SP and Elvis, they were all very dirty from what I could tell.

Like I said, you didnt miss much and half the sales were buybacks anyway.

I like Sterns...for the right price. That Elvis is cool, but the middle drain is like a funnel. Still, some intriguing titles...a helluva lot better than anything else there this year. I think the most I saw may have been 5 SS games at a single auction this year.

Did you find a kiddie ride?

There were none there.  Just redemption type games like whak a mole, etc, and there were some candy and toy dispensing machines.

The Sterns were all buybacks in excess of $1500-$1600.  Plus I'm telling you they werent in that great of shape.  If I were to purchase a newer Stern for $2500+ I would expect the cosmetic condition to be pretty damn good.  That Junkyard was there again too.

That dude is proud of that Junkyard. It's in nice shape, but maybe the dullest Williams I have played.

did you get your JP working yet...I may be interested. So is it a TSPP in your future?

TSPP is in my future yes, then either a FG, LOTR, WOF or POTC a few months afterward....which ever one pops up HUO, nearby & not too overpriced....then one by one the rest of the gang but TSPP is for sure & the first to join.

Still though its tough to imagine getting rid of my current machines, I am fond of them & would prefer to just keep them & start to grow one of those massive collections but then people wont fit in my house during parties.

---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, I need a bigger house & a few platinum cards to buy the pins... I am such an American.

I will let you know when the JP is for sale, it will be a few months I'm sure.
