KILLER MAME INTRO VIDEO
« on: April 13, 2009, 09:57:00 pm »
Check out this killer intro video I did for my friend Corey. Anyone wants something similar I am available for hire. Just PM me. I have the videos to all Mame and Daphne games.  This one was done is 640X480 for Maximus Arcade intro.

Way too long for a cabinet startup video. I could see it as a screen saver, but as an intro it's just way too long.

That aside, it's quite nice.

I agree, great video, but too long.  Probably need to shorten it to around 20 - 30 seconds.  The problem lies in that the first time it's cool, but having to wait that long on the 20th time will suck.

That's a really good video, but I see it more of an attract video instead of an Intro or startup.
Empire had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets

I do like the video. There are some really great aspects of it. I think that the content itself is awesome. Sure it could use trimming, but heck. What programs did you use to complete this? Our main computer has after effects and such, but I am interested in the 3d rotation effects that you used.

Thanks for the input. I wanted to get the fighters in and also wanted it to coincide with the music to a certain degree. It might be too long for most of you, but when your friend comes over and sees your setup and intro for the first time, its going to take more than a minute for them to clean up all their drool. PM me if you have After Effects and want to know how to do that 3d rotation effect.

The first time is fine, but what about the 100th?

I'd love to learn how to make something like this.  Nothing nearly this fancy... basically 10 seconds at the most with the title of my cab animated in some way across the screen... that's it.   What programs are out there that would enable a newb like me to pull that kind of thing off?

Frizz...PM me the details and I will whip something up for you. Here is the one I did for HyperSpin. It won't be this good...but I have some simple particular or lightning effects (simple flashy stuff) that I can do. Audio could just be some royalty free sound effects. I don't use copyrighted stuff (HS intro was produced by one of the forum members)

and an older HS intro

I also did one for HyperPin although I dont have a clean version to show. If you saw the original demo, you see it. Its a quick one...like 5-6 seconds tops.

Hey Billpa, it's Jay who did the audio for the HS intro. How's things?  Not been on the site for a long while as I've not had much time unfortunately. Still got to pull my finger out to finish my machine as it's sat for so long on the backburner it's growing roots.

I surely wish I had the proggys to do that stuff... if you get the right software,  is it easy to produce quality stuff or is there a steep learning curve?

for most of the "pro" software tools...theres a pretty steep learning curve. But its like anything else. Once you take the time and grasp the concepts....the rest is cake.

Flash is probably the easiest because it can be output to video. And you can use unflattened photoshop files in it to animate with.

As for 3D stuff....thats a realm I dare not enter. Way too deep.

3D Studio Max. This is something I made for my cabinet a while back (Shameless self-promotion).

Yah the 3d software isn't impossible at all but it will require ridiculous amounts of time to learn.

I actually need some help creating a intro vid for my vewlix cab.

It'd be really simple, but Im just not skilled enough in flash or other animating programs to do it myself. I can design things ok....but animation is just not for me.

If someone wouldn't mind giving me a hand, I can PM them the details.

I'm working on a "Generic" MAME one for all to use, but it's SUPER hard to find time lately to work on it.  I'm hoping to release it by Christmas though.  :)

In the meantime, here's mine.  Originally, it was WAY too long, but with others' advice, I shortened it to what it is today:

http://linkedmedia.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/delusional_intro_short.mpg

As for the other one I am working one... here's a preview (you may also see it on Retro ware T V 's intro for their show).  I am working on getting permission to use it to donate to the arcade community.  :)

Man, that video is amazing... I almost think the length is justified.
