Quit button for Sega genesis emulator
« on: April 07, 2009, 07:07:41 am »
Ive been playing around with the gen emulator.
Is there anyway to assign the escape button to quit the emulator?
I have to left click with the mouse then choose "quit" from the emuls menu bar.
It would be neat to add this to my cab, but I want to be able to quit the emul just like I do mame.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this.

You need to use a wrapper to launch the emulator.  There's one called closemul (http://clusters.cjb.net/closemul/) which should help.  I havent used it for a while but I think it's straightforward enough to setup

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Which genesis emulator? KegaFusion allows me to escape out.

Here is a link to GensFE 2.11 that has been modified to close with escape key

http://www.localarcade.com/screenshotarchive/downloads_emus.htm

Also at bottom of page there is Gens 2.11 that works with Arcade Vga

I downloaded the GensFE 2.11 but when I try to unzip it, it says it is corrupt.
Tried downloading twice, same results.

Try the gens 2.11 at bottom of page and see how you make out.

I'm out of town now so I can't try it.
All those emulators listed close with escape key.

Sorry scratch that idea too as it doesn't work either.

I will see if I have it at home when I get back into town.

Bumped for update.

I found where mala can be set to exit the emulator.
(hotkey option in mala, I assigned it to be escape.)

Mala is a dang good front end!

What other emulators do you guys have on your cabs?
I downloaded and tested NES, but it shows the windows menu bar and taskbar.
