I know that from what I have seen on this forum the cab that I am going to build will be average at best :notworthy:. I am very exited to do this project. I decided to build a MK3 style cab. I am in the very early stages of building the cab. the first thing I have done is build the cab out of cardboard to make sure i got the measurements right. the cab I am building is going to be modified to fit a 32inch tv. (I cant afford a wells gardner screen) the cab is going to be a bit massive(hence the name ManCade8000). I will be posting more pics and updates soon.

Thats a nice looking mockup. I'd just put a monitor in it and call it done.

Good luck!

@Ginsu Victim ROFL...

@Pacalcaco Your system is made from cardboard and it already looks more finished than mine.
What if this weren't a hypothetical question?

You're putting a 32" tube in that?!

Holy cow. That WILL be a monster.

I can't imagine the reaction from my wife if I'd built one like that.

But you'll have room enough for everything!

yeah my wife is was not to fond of the Idea of a massive cab. Now that I have the pc up and running with Maximus arcade and 12,000 games. She is now looking forward to playing some of the arcade games she used to play. I am still thinking of changing the front end to HyperSpin but I have yet to try it. I hope it works with all the emulators I have. the only thing left to do to the pc is add a few more games, an intro video that I am working on in after effects, and a sound card. this project almost requires for me to be almost a jack of all trades. I will soon put up more pics of the pc running some games. Oh yeah about the name (ManCade8000) its not the name that the cab will end up with but I think its funny because my Bro's were saying they wanted a manly name so I dubbed it that. I wanted it to be Brocially  accepted. we will have a vote to come up with a name.

Okay I wasn't going to be making fun of that name until he said that.  Now he gets a Bro Medal.

Have you thought of some suitably manly sideart yet?

If not then I'd suggest that some Rough Ranger artwork would fit in nicely with the overall theme.

that's a good one. but won't make it far in the vote with competition like Rough Ranger in the running.

In mame.ini or mame.cfg, look for an option called something like "use_bezels=1"
Change the one to a zero then save it.
I could be wrong, but I think this will turn off your bezel.

Hey everyone. I have been doing a lot of thinking on the types of controls I want in the cab. When I first started the project I was set on buying the x-arcade setup. Now that I had a chance to look at a lot of great looking custom control panels, I would like to do something custom for my own control panel. I have been poring over what type of set up I want. Since this is my first cab I will build I want to learn all that I can. I fell it would be a more rewarding experience to do a custom job than to go the X-arcade rout.
I was hoping some of you might have some suggestions on what type of controls I should go with :dunno. The only thing that I know I want is the balltop joysticks. I like the look rather than the other type. I guess I’m asking what advice you would have for a good control set up. I am going to go with a 2player and trackball look. If you have any ideas please feel free to help. :)

The 32" TV works great and its fun to play.
I'm new too, you can check out my thread "My Mame Machine"

Keep in mind that a 32" TV weighs about 160 pounds alone.
The finished units has got to be over 300 pounds.

I put some wheels on the back and made the controls platform really strong.

I can lift it by the controls and roll it around on the back wheels.

Watch the center of gravity.

^^ you got some nice art work there. I was checking some of it out. and it inspired me to redo the marquee for mt mame cab. I was thinking of probably ordering some side art from you. well ass soon as I get all my ideas tied down that is. I am starting work on the control panel design. but mainly I have bin putting a lot of time in getting all the emulator and games in maximus arcade to run with no problems. setting up my lists like favorites takes along time when you have lots of games. here is a pic of the marquee.

I sent a message but I'm not sure it worked so I'm trying again.  the answer is yes. I was hoping to work with you on the artwork or having you do the artwork. also was asking for an opinion on the art work that I did. hopefully you get this one.

updated the marquee once more. I took out the tekken guy and put in Bryan from tekken 5. also included link in the party. gotta have link hes a classic game character. I am keeping samus because the "bros" like metroid. I hope that looks better.
