Basically I've got a MAMECAB thats several years old. I'm using an original Ultimarc IPAC and their device thats designed for spinners (its been so long I forget what they are called!)
for my cab, and I'm running MAME32 version.... .089 I believe, from a few years back on a 1.4Ghz Athlon. I believe this release plays CHD files, almost all of which were unplayable on the box as its currently configured. From memory my PC did fine playing the "latest" releases at the time, which were the D&D side-scroller games, all the SNK/NeoGeo games, I think Metal Gear III or IV was one of the big ones around the time of this release.
But I haven't kept up on my MAME. More and more obscure clones were being released, and more and more games that wouldn't be playable for another 20 years were also coming to light.
Question: Can someone give me a list of the major game releases that are playable on later versions of MAME? You know, for every 20 games released maybe 1 is "Wow this is worth it".....can someone hook me up with that list?
I understand this is very much subjective, but thats ok...I'm just curious if its worth it to upgrade the cabinet or not, and that includes hardware at this point as well, although I'm not buying a new PC jsut to play "Crusin World" when I can just as easily run my PS2 and Gran Turismo 4 into the TV on the cab.....
Thanks!
