Mmm, they cuss too much. And they seem to use it to be funny. SNL sure as hell ain't funny (and they can't cuss), but neither is this.

I rolled.
FWIW in this case I think the cussing was necessary for it to be funny.  Tell me you haven't cussed like that at electronics or software before!

That's why I love your R-rating for movies so much:

Non-R rated is pathetic christian-safe-walt-disney-moralistic-happy-end-botox-silicon-photoshopped-girl-next-door-Hollywood-crap

Rated R: All nice indy and small label movies about real life and real people.

There's an art in language, one that seems to be fading, that guides one in the use and frequency of profanity and obscenity.

Is there an art in constructing sentences to be as pretentious as possible?

If language is an art and words the colors, why would tell an "artist" that it's wrong to use certain colors?

I'm sorry, but I think there's a difference between unnecessary cursing, like dropping F-bombs as emphasis in otherwise civil conversation (ex. "I have to file my 10 f-ing 40 by April fif f-ing teenth") and using curse words in satire to accurately portray a personality, convey frustration, etc.  The Onion is not written by 12-year olds and the cursing is almost never gratuitous.

I think there's personal bias on your all's part that is preventing you from understanding me and my point. Which is okay.

I think that what Ummon is saying, and I agree, is that overuse of curse words makes them non-effective as expletives and reduces their shock value.

Drill sergeants don't curse anymore. They have to use other techniques to shock and awe recruits to get them into line.

But I think the Onion piece was well done because it was clearly satirical.
Old, but not obsolete.

It was awesome satire. This piece's brilliance is knowing that maybe not all people will cuss when dealing the new tech but just about all do and for those who do, the Onion salutes you :).

I agree w/ Ummon.  Had the 'anchor' and the 'beat reporter' not used so many cuss words, it would have been funnier.  The people being 'interviewed' used the perfect amount of cussing.

Loved the Skanks one.

I agree, the Skanks episode was hillarious.

I think you folks are reading too much in to it.  It's clearly a satire... but the whole gist of it is that Sony continues to churn out one ---smurfing--- Piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- after another and just about the time you've collected a massive amount of things for the first Piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---,  another comes along.
