How to unlock tracks in Burnout 3 PS2
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:09:11 am »
Just got the phattest racing game ever for PS2, Burnout 3, but I'm completely puzzled on how to unlock more tracks. I'm getting tired of that 1st American track.
I managed to unlock a whole bunch of cars, guess I have 10 cars now, but I have to do all racing, all crashes and all wrecking on the same track. How do I proceed?

Have you checked the GameFAQs pages for this game?

I'm getting sick of this game. I've played together 20 cars now, but still no new track. And those Cheat sites are giant bitshes too. They never have cheats. Only walktroughs and other reformed christian stuff like HINTS  :notworthy:. No magic pills! Where is the good old time of "Press UP,LEFT,UP,LEFT,DOWN,DOWN,START,L1" to access all levels from Sonic 2 in the 8-bit era?

LOL that's officially the biggest FAILURE of a 'cheat' FAQ ever.
"Get a gold medal in every racing event" to unlock the "World Circuit Racer".  If that's the 'cheat' I wonder what the long way to achieve it is. :laugh2:

Sorry, there is no magic cheat BUT, go back and re-take all yer crashes and races up to the gold medals where you can.
Then you will unlock new regions, Europe and Far East.
Sorry there is no short version!

Have fun and don't forget Burnout Revenge, I think it's the best!
And if you any Madden saves on yer memory card before you start you get some kind of bonus.
Crash on!

Is revenge better (read easier)? I really think the racing games are way too hard in Burnout 3. A game should be inviting an give you the idea of progression. Even the dumbest gamer can get to the next level in Donkey Kong after 3 hours of playin. In Burnout 3 the game starts to be pretty anoying after 3 hours. Best racing game ever? ---my bottom---! The opponents drive really accurate, and restore from crashes instantly, where you ran into other traffic all the time (or those nasty sidewalk parking spaces in the village). It's really dumb they make you crash into the bottom of your opponent, but when you push a granny on the same track, you crash up beyond repair and you can never win the race again. What does Mario Kart make fun: that if you mess up, the others mess up too, so there is mostly a chance to catch on again!

So does anyone have a savegame with all unlocked and a way to transfer it to the memorycard? (Why didn't SONY accept USB drives as memory card, those 25 euro 8Mb cards are priced pathetically)

Another question, is there a way to skip the instruction video's? Every time I start up the Playstation, it shows this annoying stuff again. They should have put it in your profile when you have seen it. I did not buy GDM Mario World! There you may annoy teenagers with a zillion text balloons before they can play! Now it takes 10 minutes everytime you run BO3. And the worst thing is you cannot drink coffee through it. Every part of the game has its own annoying video again.

Guess I'm going to put it on Ebay  :badmood:

I have the ability to download those save files from there, so that's a quick, easy cheat for me.

I did that for Mario Kart for the Wii.  Saved me a lot of stress and time trying to get things unlocked.  My kids saw it the next day and thought I was God.   ;D

The link I supplied above in the second post. If you have a way to transfer saves to your memcard, you can download 100% unlocked saves.

Sounds like you have this solved but just to chime in...

I'm playing through this on the xbox and so far have unlocked many tracks. I'm playing in career mode and winning races...special events etc.

While we are griping about this really great game...I feel you on the racing difficulty...but  it's not impossible. what makes it hard for me is that it's imposible to gain any sort of lead on the AI cars (this is by design). So far thouth most races I can get gold after a few tries and I learn the track. there are a few though where I had to settle for bronze untill I improve.

I found out that I should do more in competition, especially the crashes. Now I'm quite a bit further.

The AI cars/opponents are tough, granted,  But keep pluggin away, use drift as much as possible, Gold is attainable in the Grand Prix.  I have the toughest time with the face-offs and some of the burning laps.
Damn fine game tho' too many lost hours on this one!
I hadda turn off that damned annoying DJ, I'd like to kick him in the nads!

You gotta get Burnout Revenge too!
There are some useful differences in race modes, you can rear-end cars (Except for semis and buses!) OTHER than opponents, driving them in front of the other cars for Takedowns.

I've gotten Elite status on it but now I have to go back and try to re-run some of the events that I skipped or got less than Gold scores on.

BTW, I have both the Xbox and PS2 versions and of course the Xbox is better graphically and on loading times, I like the xbox gas/brake scheme much better.  R trigger/gas, L trigger/brake make drifting much easier and more productive.

Burn On!

Very tempting. Crashing into the back of non-racing cars is the worst in BO3TD

True...but getting into the groove and threading in and out of cars is so sweet!

Then again the crashes are sometimes spectacular in and of themselves.

So far I really enjoy the road rage races too.
