Using artwork for non-MAME emulators with MAMEwah?
« on: June 21, 2003, 06:39:25 pm »
I want to be able to display my Nintendo titles and snaps with the layout--I have the paths in MAMEwah set, but where do I designate the rom extension of the pics?  They are not displaying--in the previous version, the artwork files had an extension option.  How do I get them to display now?

It should work if you have the path(s) set...there was no option for snapshot filename extension, but it should display BMP's, JPG's, GIF's, PNG's and PCX's anyway.

Check the paths again, and make sure they apply to the right 'Artwork #' in the layout.

The only other thing to check is that your artwork filenames are the same as the romnames (& not zipped).

Thanks Minwah,

I figured it out.  I went back to my original set of NES snaps and titles in which I retitled them to match each rom.  But resently, I downloaded the complete set of NES screen and title snaps (USA) from a link Stuzza provided on the board that were designed "good ..." as a universal method of naming the files.  Now, the files do not match the rom titles and dont work for me in MAMEwah.  Is there a way to rename the files in MAMEwah to get them to work as they are a complete set and the ones I would like to use.

Thanks.

If you want to rename the snaps, try using Howard's renamer: http://www.oscarcontrols.com/lazarus/files/generic_artwork_renamer.zip
It works fairly well, but you may need to do a manual inspection afterwards.

Alternatively, use goodNES to rename your roms to the goodtools names and they'll match my snaps no worries. :)
