Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
« on: December 20, 2008, 12:31:55 pm »
Shocked that no one is talking about this here?  I've been playing this since I finished the new Prince of Persia and I love it!  The artwork looks amazing in HD and the reworked fighter balancing really makes it my default play mode.  Microsoft is even letting people with Silver live accounts play online for the rest of December for free.  My live ID is romperwomb if anyone's up for a match.

I'm only a fair player but I still love the game.  Defiantly considering building my own stick to play.

I hate it, the AI is either stone retarded or unbeatable. I can hop on mame jack the difficulty up pretty far and get  5 or 6 fights in pretty easily. When I play HDRemix sometimes when I get Cammy as the first fight I cant win to save my life.  there was a thread about this before, but meh, huge let down, I regret buying it.

I'm just waiting for my stick and buttons to arrive from DM, which apparently just cleared customs!  Looking forward to hooking them up to my hacked 360 controller for some HD SF2 action on a stand-up cabinet!!!

Woot!  Just got my 100th win achievement!  Sorry if there was already a thread, I searched but didn't see one.

Yeah a few characters are pretty hard in the single player mode.  Akuma took all afternoon to beat.  T hawk is way too powerful, Fei Long and Cammie are tough too, but I like a challenge.  Everything seems very balanced playing online, that's more important to me personally.

Why on earth would you buy a fighting game to play against the computer?  They could take out single player all together and it would still be worth my money.

HD Remix is awesome.  The changes made give it all sorts of great gameplay, the new art is stunning, and the netcode is fantastic.

I love it, play it almost every day, and cant get enough of it.  The only complaints that I have are minimal, like, I would like training mode to let you always have a full super bar if you desire, to practice comboing into them easier.  And tournament mode should let you at least watch the finale.  There also seems to be a few bugs that need fixing, but nothing too major.  All in all, its freaking great.

Hmmmm... thats brilliant! I can go online and fight other people and get the achievements like:

Blinding Speed
Defeat an opponent in under 15 seconds in single player arcade mode.

Training for Perfection
5 Perfect Rounds in Arcade Mode (Any Difficulty Level, no challengers)

Sheng Long is in Another Castle
Beat Akuma in Arcade Mode.

Super Finisher
Got one Super Finish in Arcade Mode.

Vanquish the Computer
Beat Arcade Mode.

Human fights are as iffy as the CPU ones. I get someone who plays the game 39 hours a day and I cant beat them, or I fight timmy the tard who doesnt know how to throw a fireball and when I beat him he leaves me negative feedback on line because "I'm too good"

Sometimes you wanna drop the game on easy and just beat the crap out of the CPU to relieve some stress, even that isnt an option on this game. I prefer Alpha 3 for fighting games, and MvC2 for stupid fun

Thats ridiculous.  Your argument for having a single player mode is to get single player achievements?  Its great that they encourage people to play the whole game with achievements, but if there were no single player mode, guess what, there wouldn't be any single player achievements.

If you dont like playing people in fighting games, then I dont know what to tell you.

You can beat some people, and you cant beat others.  What, do you want every game to end up as a tie?

The computer on easy is pretty easy to beat the crap out of, Im not sure what you are getting at here.

The computer on easy is pretty easy to beat the crap out of, Im not sure what you are getting at here.

Single player is for learning the game to play other people. My point was I was playing single player mode to get the achievements, you basically said "why play single player?" so I was telling you why. You also missed why I don't like to play online, the people I beat almost ALWAYS leave negative feedback, that takes away from the thrill of the win. I never said I wanted to tie. Should I re-write all my replies with smaller words so you can comprehend them?

My point on difficultly , which you also seemed to miss, was the AI is sporadic at best and I was expecting more. I can put it on medium and dogood enough; but I cant put the game on easy and let my nephew enjoy it. I openly admit the game looks beautiful , but MvC2 on my DC is infinitely more fun.

This game let's the loser of anonymous internet matches leave "negative feedback"?  :laugh2:  That has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Any user can technically rate any user on Xbox Live after gaming with them.  Its game independent.  You have a rating out of 5 stars associated with your profile, that is not visible unless someone looks at your profile, most games do not even show your rating when you join a random internet game (Street Fighter for instance does not).

My personal experience is that no one cares about or leaves feedback, but thats just me.

Soul Caliber 4 is the only Xbox game I played a fair amount online and I got 2 negative feedbacks during that time, one of which said "unsportsman like".  I found that pretty hilarious and am assuming he considered it unsportsmanlike how I side-steped around him mashing the vertical attack with Kilik and then threw him  :P  (it seemed at least 1/2 the people in SC4 were either Kilik or Cervantes and just button mashed the same 2 attacks which could be easily side-stepped, and they always got pissed when you did side-step).

even worst you can get banned if you get too many negative feedbacks. I remember making a thread here about getting a 2 week ban from  capcom vs snk 2 for being "too good". basically I was winning all day and I am guessing some people weren't too happy about losing or.....something  ::)

I don't see how its circular.
last try.

Single player is used to learn the game. Not having single player in a 1 on 1 fighter doesn't make sense.

I was playing single player to get the achievements, also, I don't always feel like rolling the dice online. It is GREAT fun to play other people when skill is comparable but squashing people and getting squashed aren't fun for me.

My 5 year old nephew isn't good at street fighter, it would be great if I could put it on easy and him be able to actually win a match or two. Isn't the the whole point of easy?

AGAIN, IN CAPS SO YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY READ IT:
MY NEPHEW WHO IS FIVE CANT WIN EASILY ON EASY, it'd be great if he could, so that he didn't give up on the game

Back to why I don't like the online:
1)Negative feedback with actual consequence,  if enough people give you negative you CAN get banned for days, weeks, or permanently. I DO take pride in my feedback and like being known as a friendly gamer. When I played UMK3 online win or lose I almost always got positive feedback for being fun to play against. Hell I played NARUTO online (poorly, I might add) and didn't get a single negative. leads me to believe that SF gamers are ironically less mature then Naruto players. Personally speaking, its more about having fun and enjoying the game then it is winning.

2)Poor match ups. I haven't fought that many times online but only a couple have been balanced matches. I can admit I'm not the greatest at the game and I've lost quite a few matches online but its just not fun to perfect other people or be perfected on.

3)everybody is Akuma. well not everyone but like...alot....too many. Its like trying to play tiger woods online and everyone is tiger woods.

I digress. You're too close minded for the discussion and cant seem to understand what Im trying to convey.

So, if the game isn't designed for a 5 year old, its no good.  Got it, great point.  I stand corrected, Super Turbo HD Remix is a terrible game.

seriously? that's what you got out of all that text?

you aren't even trying.

if I pop MvC2 in the DC and put it on easy, they can win. If I pop in SSF2 in my SNES and put it on easy, they can win. If I load up any variation of SF on my MAME cab and put it on easy they can win. If I load up Capcom Collection on my PSP and put it on easy , they can win....... meh you probably still dont get my point, which was EASY should be EASY, and that means easy enough for a 5 year old. Do you think easy should be hard or something?

I dont like the game because it doesn't feel the same as Super SF 2 to me, even if I turn off the HD sprites the animation still seems chopped down and the timing is off. They also altered the priorities of too many moves and even those seems sometimes altered to give the CPU an advantage, even when I choose the classic mode.

I'm not saying you are wrong for liking the game, nor am I saying the game is terrible. I'm saying I don't like it and I don't think it was worth the $15 to me.

why would you even bring up timing and priorities. st in general is so retarded its not even funny. this game is all about mashing. mash more and abuse jump ins and you can win.  of course lets not forget abusing tick throws and 360s. then again I could care less I am always winning anyway..its just REALLY boring... :dunno

I was really dissapointed with it. I thought maybe...just maybe they would update the animation cycles too....nope. So its just HD choppy animation now. lol.

I've got my arcade PC to keep me warm at night when I need a Street Fighter fix. Until Street Fighter IV.
