Just finished my Wallmount Juke
« on: November 06, 2008, 08:52:44 pm »
I had progress pics, but my compact flash card took a dump on me.  :banghead:

Its based off of the mameroom juke plans. Guts consist of a dell gx260 board and power supply, seagate 2.5" hard drive, DVD/CD, linksys wireless, RCA Lyra wireless sound back to my home theater, 6" lumin disc, 15" ELO touchscreen. Painted black with spraypaint, sanding between each coat to get a smooth flat finish, then cleared. Was a fun project. I'm not the most skilled like most on here, but I am very happy with it and everyone loves it. Have a bit more tweaking to do with the nordbeat software to get all my prefrences the way I like, but that should be done by this weekend.

Good job!

Does that monitor have both USB and serial connections?

No, just serial. Got it off Ebay and assumed it was USB, but I was wrong. Luckily I had a board with 1 serial port on it.

The black cable out of the monitor goes to a controller for the monitor. It's used for adjusting screen position, color, etc. If you look at the pic, the controller is the light gray rectangular thing stuck to the back of the monitor on the left hand side.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.  What do most folks do about a keyboard in a jukebox?  My project computers all want a keyboard or they won't fully boot.

Are you just using a decased keyboard?

Check BIOS and see if there is a section called something like  "Halt on errors"
Make sure it is set to ignore all errors, including keyboard.

Some BIOS's can also be set to turn the computer on as soon as mains is applied. I did this with mine so i didn't need to add a power button to turn the juke on, it also means it comes straight on if there is a power outage for any reason.

Could you take some brighter pics of the front? I can't see any detail. Mainly want to see what it looks like sans buttons on the panel.

Sorry for the dealy Shardian, here is a better pic of the front. No buttons or anything special. The only button is a button on the bottom to turn it all on or off.
