people use tinted glas or plexi or lexan in front of the monitor

its gives more ease to the eyes and better black levels. and some people say the colors look beater tinted

also some games have borders, the monitor bezel and monitor lines will be invisible with dark tint. then you wont notice the borders

there is gray or brown type of tint in different levels

Mine is 10% and I think it's too dark.

If it is 3mm, I would put it on wood or so. 3mm is not stiff enough and will look curved when put under an angle.

So anyone else have an recommendations on tint %.  I read on another forum some guy suggesting 31%.  Somewhere else where a guy recommends Greylite 14 - whatever that is. 

I have been thinking about using OneDayGlass.com but my problem is I cant seem to find the tint percentages on their various options.  Solar grey seems to be the one I would want but not sure......

I purchased Gray Smoke Tinting at Canadian Tire (A store that sells hardware and autoparts etc). The tint I got was 35% and imo it is perfect...not too dark and not too clear, just right.  It is about $16 and you get a roll 24" x 6' that you can then apply to glass/plexi. Very easy to apply and the end result is perfect.

I personally ended up replacing the plexi when my tempered was ready...I currently have a 5mm laminated at the very front. My bezel graphic and matt board behind that and then 2 layers of 3mm tempered glass with 40% gray smoke tint. I think it looks fantastic. There is no blurring or ghosting of images as the layers are all very close together.

Well I just installed some greylite 14 as recommended by several people from this forum and I have to say I'm disappointed.  From what I had read, it pretty much was supposed to black out everything but the monitor display but thats the case.  I wanted it to hide my crappy bezel and I can still see it.  Obviously not as much but you can still see it.  I think if I had a professional looking bezel I would opt for clear glass.

Well greylite 14 is glass, just tinted glass.  Several people on here were praising this glass like it would completely hide all the "guts" of the cabinet but still allow the monitor picture to shine through nicely.  Its just not the case - at least with mine.

No greylite 14 apparently is a "brand" name and onedayglass doesnt carry that.  Plus with shipping cost on top of it all its about $30 more expensive to go with onedayglass.  My piece cost me $38 from a local glass shop.  Also, I dont think onedayglass has glass as dark as greylite 14, I think their solar grey is 31% (lets 31% of light through from what I understand).  Greylite 14 lets 14% of light through - although as I say that may be debatable.

Onedayglass.com sells #14 Gray, but only in the 1/4 inch thickness.

Well there you go good info.  Thats what mine is 1/4" thick and it still worked.  My previous clear glass was 3/16".
