Wii party games?

Im looking for some fun Wii games to get to play at a party tomorrow night. Mario Kart is definitely on the agenda, as is Wario Ware. Ive been told Super Smash Bros is goods too but Ive never played any of the series

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Super Smash Brothers is only good if you have people over who play video games.  The more casual of your group will probably not enjoy it.

The first raving rabbits was nice. Not sure if it classifies as a party game though. It's not really multiplayer.

I've enjoyed the House of the Dead 2 / 3 for the Wii.  It's only 2 players, though.

I'll second patrickl's bit about Raving Rabbids.  It's not multiplayer, but people love it as a party game.  They take turns, but that's okay.  You take turns in DDR or Karaoke Revolution too.  The point is, they all have fun watching and laughing when it's not their turn.

I know . . . Tiger Woods for Xbox 360 and PS3 consistently gets like 9/10 ratings and the Wii versions are always like 6 or 7/10.  It's a crime.  How can a golf game of all things be better on the other systems?  It makes a man so mad he could piss in a milk can.

I'm not a huge fan, actually, but it's the only current-gen system I own.  I've been pretty disappointed with it overall.  But hey, my first comment in this thread was positive.

I actually like my Wii a lot, but I will have to supplement with a 360 soon now that prices have dropped.

I also have just gotten back into Wii Sports.  It's definitely the best game.  Going back to playing it after several other titles has driven home how 3rd party game developers just don't "get it" when it comes to developing a Wii game.
There have been some recent golf, bowling, and baseball games on the Wii if I'm not mistaken.  Has anyone here tried them?  Are none of them any good?

A lot of 3rd party developers were dismissive of the Wii when it was announced and just pushed titles out the door.  Nintendo was pretty much a has-been.  But after it took off and put Nintendo back on top, they decided to put a little more effort into their releases.

If and when we see that increase in quality, I do not know.

Well . . . the Wii has been sold out since launch two years ago.  I understand a lack of interest pre-launch, but developers have known that it was a smashing success ever since it launched two years ago.  That seems like plenty of time for them to put together a few games on essentially Gamecube hardware.

Seriously though, I think they are putting more effort into titles but maybe just not the type of effort we were looking for.   An example: Madden All-Play.   I'm really intrigued by the way they "dumbed-down" the game so anyone can play and turned your Miis into referees (Refermiis?).

Well, either intrigued or bothered, I haven't decided yet.

I'm going to reserve judgment on the game since I haven't played it yet, and part of me is saying "okay, cool, now I can play Madden with the girlfriend" but really, a regular game of Madden with better controls would have been much better.

Catering to an audience I suppose.

I like the Wii library.  It suits my gaming tastes a lot more than the 360 or the PS3.  I've been playing a lot of The Force Unleashed and Boom Blox lately.  Quite good.  Not everyone is looking for Madden or Gears of War.

The Force Unleashed is not only available on 360 and PS3, but better on those systems.  Boom Blox is really good.  I have nothing bad to say about that game.  But there aren't enough Boom Bloxes on the system to keep me from being disappointed with it overall.  There could be.  It's at least as powerful as the previous generation of systems and those all produced loads of fantastic games.  There just aren't.  Developers make serious games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 and they shovel out rushed, low-quality titles to the Wii.  There are a few exceptions to this, but by and large that is the state of the industry right now, IMO.

I have it.  I like it, as it can be hard to get outside to exercise here in AZ in the summer months.  Also, being able to track your weight on a day to day basis is a great feature.

Some of the aerobic exercises get a little boring after a while.  The yoga stuff is great, some of the poses have helped my flexibility.  The balance games are pretty fun.

Overall, I would say it's a good tool to help you get up off the couch and stay motivated.

The problem I have with Wii fit is that it's quite a hassle to clear a large area of the living room to be able to do the exercises (especially the ground exercises). Not so much a problem with the thing itself, but the living room is not always the best location for fitness exercises.

They also could have put a little more thought in how to control the "game". When you do the exercises you need to press a button way to often. Means that you almost need to hold the controller in your sweaty hands all the time. Why not just tap your feet or something to continue. Or just continue instead of making me press the A button 3 times in a row.

My rant against Madden: All Play* notwithstanding, I have no problems with the Wii library either.  Between decent WiiWare titles, classic VC games, and some genuine classics (Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, etc.) I'm pretty satisfied as well.   Then again, I more or less gave up on the more hardcore side of gaming.

This is the only game I've played on all three systems.  It is so much not better on the other platforms it makes me wonder if you've played it at all.  The Wiimotes and nunchuks make all the difference in the world.

Tried Guitar Hero last weekend during a party. It's too hard for the non gaming crowd. It always comes down to Mario Kart and Wii Sports. With a cab in the living room, even the smallest gatherings tend to turn into full blown KOF arcade parties

Overall I like the Wii's library too.  Previously well documented, yeah I fell for some shovelware early on (Wii Play anybody?), but much like Jim I think it stemmed from wanting to incorporate my Miis into the fun as well. Even so though, to write the Wii off is wrong IMHO.  You just need to take a closer look these days.

There's plenty of good commercial and third party stuff out there for parties, even through WiiWare: Game Show King, Tetris Party, Dr. Mario are all worth the price. Then you factor in Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Raving Rabbids, etc. and you've got what you were looking for.
