Hint: It's original artwork on the original cab, no conversion.  That's the best side too, the other side has been peeled a bit, too bad.  It really is nice 80's art!  Not Missle Command tho'!
Cab is a beast, 36" deep at cp!

 >:D More Hints:
Not a trackball hole, It does look like one tho', but something else was mounted there.
A somewhat rare game, the previous owner sold the guts to a man living in France who paid over $400 just for shipping!
Keep guessing, anyone else?

I believe that the cp deck would be plenty spacious enough for a 2 player setup, possibly with a trackball.  I really need to keep costs down on this one, already have most parts and trackballs add quite a bit to the equation.  Gotta take inventory of what I have on hand.  Moved recently and stuff is still packed and scattered in boxes!

Cab is from the mid-80's and was a gun game.
This is a tricky one, never saw it before yesterday myself, rare.

no need to shout, i dont really give a ---fudgesicle--- either way, i was just saying the bit you aim at 'the screen' lets call it looks like a screen from the old lcd games you could buy, with 'pixels' lighting up in sequence to give the impression of movement, pretty much like this one works from the looks of it.

abzman2000 gets the mighty marvel no-prize!  Arcadeflyers.com is where I got my first glimpse of it.   It was a tricky question because of the EM factor.
Thanks for playing along!

So the next question would be what do you suggest I do with the other side which has really rough art?  See Pics.   Peel/paint it?  Then what?  Or try to restore it?  I'm not much of an artist for sure!  Suggestions?
Maybe paint a big black explosion hole towards the top edge, as if the machine had been blasted, just enough to cover the missing part of the sticker?

Another issue I see is the height of the deck where the CP will go.  Being a gun game it's set up a bit taller than the usual CP.  I'd hate to cut the front down and ruin that art.

This thing is a beast, 36" deep back to front at the CP!

After having taken a break, I'm almost as excited about getting this project going as I was about the first one from 2004!  But you probably can't relate.......

Awesome cab!
I love the artwork - please try to touch up the less-good side, rather than cover it or change it. It looks absolutely awesome.
The nice thing about a huge cab is that is doesn't look so weirdly disproportionate with a gigantic frankenpanel stuffed with controls. A friend of mine built a mame cab out of a Mechanized Attack (a humongous two-player gun-game cabinet originally with mirrored-monitor setup) and the massive CP populated with 4 joysticks, trackball, spinners, flightstick etc looks good with the large proportions of the cab.
Definitely keep the artwork on your cab as intact as possible!!!!!!

Eric.

I never saw one, but amazingly knew what it was because a dude in Gameroom Magazine just wrote an article about it. I was amazed that an EM game was still being produced in 84. Thats got really cool sideart.

Rather than cutting the sides down, you could always remove the existing CP "top" and recess a new CP within the width of the existing sides.

(it makes sense in my head at least)  :)

That does make sense except that the existing cp is level and flat.....meaning that if I lower the cp I would have to cut into the front panel art.  This is looking a bit more difficult than I expected, the compromise between preserving the art and practical usability.   Even removing a couple of inches from the bottom would destroy some of the art!  :dizzy:

I might be looking at it wrong (hard to tell without being there).  If you lowered just the front part of the CP, it looks like it might lower an inch or two.  Angling it might be enough to make it more ergonomic.?

Build a pedastal on the front of the cab to stand on, that will negate the effect of the taller CP, so you
don't have to cut anything

The artwork that's destroyed on the left side is fairly benign... you could always try the old
"art class" method:
1)  scan the opposite side
2)  reverse the image on a PC
3)  print out the reversed image
4)  "grid out" the printed image
5) LIGHTLY grid out the damaged area on your cab
6)  replicate the artwork needed, grid-by-grid, erasing
the grid lines when done on your cab (or paint over them)

It's blasphemy, I know, but looking at the side I'd say you'd be able to cut a little from the bottom, two inches or so, without totally destroying the artwork?

Are there enormous scanners that could capture the good side in all it's splendor? if there exists such a thing then all you would have to do is print a mirror image of the good side on some material.

next train of thought: Is it possible to modify a scanner to be able to scan large flat objects in sections?  what I mean is that normal scanners have a glass plate recessed in a plastic bezel, could someone modify an old cheap flatbed scanner to have a perfectly flat face so you could scan large flat things in small sheet-of-paper sized sections.  Old parallel scanners seem plentiful and can be had for next to nothing (when I see them).  Next time I can get one I will try this.  This seems a great way to preserve arcade artwork.

Thanks for your input fellas.  The pedestal is a no-go, my son uses a wheelchair and I definitely want this cab to be reachable for him to play using his wheelchair or a regular one.

I may just shave a bit off of the bottom and angle the cp by trimming the front panel down to where the top of the coin door used to be.

OR totally remove the front panel allowing him to pull right in under a lowered CP with his chair.
He can access a regular height CP, he loves Ms. Pacman!

As much as I love the art on this one, I'm not gonna butcher it, but let's be realistic, it will never be a candidate for restoring to original, too much is missing.
I just wish it weren't so uncommon, I would just cut away what I don't need and really get it the way I'd like it!
And unfortunately cabs for MAME are getting more scarce here.
Maybe I ought to regift this one and wait for a more suitable one!
It's just so damn BIG!

So tell me, what is the average height of an arcade CP top to floor, this one is 43"!?
Or even a sit-down Candy cab type CP?

Keep 'em coming, I'm in no hurry, still gotta go to storage and inventory my arcade parts.

Thanks, ARCADIAC!

P.S. as far as using a flatbed scanner to scan sideart, it seems that all that would need to be done is remove the cover, attach to a laptop and get an extra set of hands to help manuver the rig section by section and there ya go!
