Opinion on mounting an LCD
« on: September 23, 2008, 06:31:16 pm »
First of all, I have a 15" LCD monitor which I am planning to mount in my bartop.  I figured I would saw off the front part of the monitor stand, and then drill the back part of the stand into place.
Unfortunately, I cannot decide if I will mount the monitor flush against the monitor frame or if I will recess the monitor an inch or so back.  Is there a "correct" way to do this, or is it just a matter of personal preference?  Also, I guess it would make sense to adjust the monitor to the same angle as the frame in front of it, right?
One main reason i am concerned is because of the bezel.  If the monitor if too far back (or angled too sharply, for that matter), would people be able to see past the blackness of the bezel and into the inside depths of the cab?  What do you think?  :dunno

Does anybody have any advice for this noob?  :-\  I really want to mount this monitor soon, but I want input from some of the pros before I make a really terrible mistake.  :notworthy:

I say mount it as close to the bezel as you can... I put black foamboard directly behind my bezel with the LCD monitor touching that. I made a pretty flexible mount for next to nothing. Use VESA mounts on back of LCD (most have them) with a piece of MDF and $2 worth of brackets. Not even sure if these pics help.

From the front... You will have to make sure your line of site is right for many LCD's or the image will look dim. Might just take some experimentation.
