Well I'm at my wit's end with searching for a suitable hinge to open and close my CP. I've bought 3 different sets of hinges and they all don't work so I'm putting out a call for any suggestions....I mean it's a standard Lusid design CP so there ought to be someone who got this down, right?
I searched the forum for some ideas but most of the solutions I saw don't seem to apply for various reasons (I based my first purchase on info from a search and it didn't work for me)
Simply put, I would just like to find a hinge that can open and close the CP from the back (so the hinges are hidden inside the front)
My problem arises with the huge overhang that the top has over the bottom, so euro hinges seem to be out, since they don't account for such a huge overhang when opening and closes things... Most hinges seem to assume that the ends for the wood meet at the endpoint, or at least that the overhang is only enough to cover the edge of the corresponsing wood, not 4-5 inches more.
I called rockler.com and asked for a suggestion, and I was given these
Hidden Barrel Hinges, which seemed great until I got them in house and realized that when drilled into the bottom of teh cover piece it would stick out the top. It seems the barrel hinges are only made to be drilled into the edge of the wood, not the face.
You can find a picture of the CP below...Is this really so hard?
