Any way of getting rid of blue "DELL" start up screen?
« on: August 07, 2008, 05:52:32 pm »
Pretty much the question is the title.  I have an Inspiron 530 and when it starts up I get the "DELL" screen, then it goes to windows.

Any idea how to get rid of this?  I'd like my cab to have a regular black screen or replace the image if possible, but I haven't been able to find too much on the subject for somewhat recent Dell machines.
Thanks!
-Nick

Buy another Brand!  :laugh2:

Sorry ..  :-[

I think it will be difficult.  May be by putting a second video card in your PC . You let the PC boot on that one without screen , and you use the other one to connect to your cab. (and configure all your software to run on the second).

So your cab screen will stay black until your OS started.

Check the bios.  Most manufacturers allow for the logo screen to be disabled and I am thinking Dell is one of those manufacturers that allow this.  I forget what the enable/disable option is.  Look for fast boot, logo, etc...

There are apps around to convert and bmp to your bios boot image, I can't remember it off the top of my head, but if I find it I will let you know.  It can be a bit risky, but I have done it many times in the past with no issues.

It seems like those are for just replacing the "windows start up" screens and not the dell bios, or am I just looking over it somehow.

Thanks again guys for all the help.  I have read about the BIOS option of changing it on other boards and apparently older DELL systems were friendly with removing it in the BIOS, but newer systems have that option removed supposedly.

Thanks again and I'm still taking all your suggestions!!!

How old are we talking about. I have an old 600mhz and would like to know if it's possible.

Yeah I think I may just leave this one alone :)  Just not worth breaking it.  Just didn't know if there was a quick and easy fix.

I'm not sure, I believe on older dell's it was in the BIOS settings, something like "skip entry screen" or something and you change to "enabled"  I'm sure I have it totally wrong off the top of my head, but it was something that simple on older dells accoring to some message boards I read.

The rumor on those message boards were that on new Dell's it's next to impossible to remove that screen.  I just didn't know if anyone here had any luck.

use a smart strip or some sort of relay to delay the monitor turning on for x seconds.

You can do that with a smart strip?  How would you delay it using a smart strip?  I have one and am interested!

You could crack open the pc and find the manufacturer and madel # of the motherboard,
then see if you can find a bios upgrade on the manufacturer's web site.
