Here are the PC "Arcade type" games that I have currently on my PC:

Ether Vapor (works great with MAME default keys.  Sadly not on my cab which has a custom key layout)
Geometry Wars
Grid Wars
Hamsterball (Great game for a trackball setup!) ($)
Hurrican
Mechatron
Metroid 2 Tech Demo
Mugen
Mutant Storm ($)
Raiden III ($)
Super Mario War
Typhoon

These are all cabinet friendly PC based games.  Other PC games that use the mouse and keyboard, such as Half-Life 2, etc are really meant to be run on a real PC setup, not an arcade.  (duh)  Who wants to stand playing those anyway?

Pardon the bump but I love this thread because it is all about ideas of what you can do with your machine once you finish it (more like have it operational because it's never really finished)…

Anyway, I just wanted to give a heads up about the AM2R Metroid project I discusses some time ago.
There has been a new demo released which, cleverly, has been worked into a stand-alone game that represents a training simulation for Samus based on the data gathered from Planet Zebes (on the first Metroid, I assume).

It is simply an offshoot of the main game using the assets developed so far.
Just download from here and enjoy:

maybe Frets on Fire is an idea :)

So you have your own Guitar Hero-like Arcade system :)

That's a good idea since that game would be a decent match for arcade buttons.

Also, there has been progress in the other big Metroid project, SR-388 as shown in their new website:

A demo is coming up due Nov 1st.

Finally, the Nintendo Community Fangame Convention is a good source for all your Nintendo fangame cravings for your arcade.

There's some rad looking games on there!  Any you recommend?

Oh and it looks like a lot are "in development" which ones are complete?
