renaming files help (what program?)
« on: July 11, 2008, 02:27:18 am »
My roms have one name, and the marquees i made have a "_" (underscore) in their names. what program can take all of the "_" out of the names for me?

This isn't for mame by the way, it's for the NES marquees i made.

There are some really handy software links on the BYOAC Wiki's Utilities page including a link to Oscar's File Renamer and Bulk Rename Utility. Both can do what you want.

EDIT: Added Flash Renamer to the wiki

I used Oscar to rename some NES roms I have to match up with Emumovies file names.  It works for some but apparantely many are still not matching up.  I am finding this whole process takes quite awhile to complete.  I will say though that Oscar is a smooth program.

I think my NES roms were named with good tools - I wish emumovies had a good tools version of their console movies.  I have to spend more time on my NES roms to get them in line pluse I havent even started on my Atari 2600 or Sega Genesis roms.

Would be nice if I had a entire weekend of wife and kid free to get all my kinks worked out.

If all you wan't to do is remove the underscores you can use Rename.
Just choose your files and click on convert. Put an underscore then where is says "to" put a space.
I've attached the program.
