Monitor Suggestions and Sources
« on: July 07, 2008, 08:07:30 pm »
Hey Everyone,
I'm in the market for a 27" Monitor for my new MAME Cabinet.

All the reviews and information I can find are for older models and keep seem to find anything current.

I like the positives of the Wei-Ya M2929DC-62 / bilLABS BL27CA1K : http://retroblast.arcadecontrols.com/reviews/weiya.html

Or even the Betson?  http://retroblast.arcadecontrols.com/reviews/betson.html

What do you all think?

I really would like a MultiSync Monitor, but in the mean time I have a 27" Sony that I will use on a temporary basis.

:dunno I would love some suggestions and the places to find them. :)

Thanks!

I would avoid the latest batch of Betsons as they have geometry problems on the side (squishing of the picture).  I didn't think the Billabs 27" multisync was still being sold?  About the only real MAME-worthy multisync out there to my knowledge at the moment is the Wells Gardner D9400.  :'(

From reading...

Is the Wells D9400 my only good option for a multisync monitor?

I stress the "good option" because from what I see in these forums, it's a mixed bag.

Most of the bad press around here stems from the previous model, the WG D9200.  I have not heard much negative (or otherwise) about the WG9400 (its successor) around here.  At least nothing like the horror stories of quality control issues from the previous model.
Have you tried to contact Billabs to see about getting their older 27" multisync?  Maybe they still have some left.

EDIT: Looks like Billabs has a new digital multisync!?!

The BL27CA0Q (I would avoid the analog tri-syncs for MAME/Emulation usage).

I don't think so. I think that's been discontinued, and was a sort of predecessor to the B0P (also discontinued). On their product page, there's only the 90T, and I don't know if that's digital sync.

I wondered that too, but I googled the BL27CA0Q model number and come up with absolutely nothing.  Googling BL27CA1K I come up with a tons of matches.  I would think there would have been SOMETHING out there about the BL27CA0Q if it was a discontinued model.   ???
