And if I had to choose between Mrs. Cheffo and my games, my back would be sore from moving games up from the basement.

One of the first things I told my (now) wife: I have a hobby (it was computers then really, but it's about the thought, not the kind of hobby) and anyone who wants a relation with me will have to live with it

In some weird and bumpy way, we managed 18 years of marriage this way...................

So is anyone daring too send him a message like keep the cabs, list girlfriend on e-bay ?

well , if you love someone enough you'll do things like this for them. I would but only on the condition that later on I could get at least 1 machine . He may have just made up the story to move the machine

My wife not only enjoys my hobby, she encourages it.

She didn't like my Happ Universals I had on my cabinet, and when I told her about U360s, it didn't take much at all to sell her on them.

She's very happy with our purchase.

That's not saying much for your self worth.

Loving someone does not mean creating a bunch of rules for them to follow. Loving someone does not mean possessing them like an object. Loving someone means wanting them to be happy. If arcade games make you happy, the significant other should be supportive of that (unless of course it's at the expense of something else which is damaging in some way... I'm sure we could come up with a zillion "exceptions" but you get my drift...)

I disagree but respect your candor. Relationships are build on love and respect, both people must bend a little to make it work. The OP has this pretty one sided and we dont know the whole story; perhaps he never plays them so she suggested to get the cash for them while they still work, perhaps they need to fix some house problems and this is the best way to raise cash, perhaps he build a MAME cab and can play all those games on it anyway....... I guess my point is, theres nothing wrong with him getting rid of the machines for her.

I have a VERY high level of self worth but I can understand that arcade game collecting isnt a common hobby

Let's separate love from control here.

If a girlfriend loves you...you can pop her one in the eye and it solidifies her love for you...sure she cries...but when her family asks her why she stays in the relationship she says it's because she loves you, she defends you.

Now, on the other hand, if a girlfriend doesn't love you, and instead wishes to use you and therefor control you...because you are disposable to her....then she simply pushes you and prods you like a puppet marionette just to see what stupid ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- she can get you to do before you realize it's all just a big game and she is boning your best friend Steve while you are at work.

Now....having said all that...which one do you think applies to that guy?

I still find it amazing that this is by far one of the nicest working forums that I frequent and that it still doesn't shorten those links automaticaly. I mean, all those nice features like inserting Youtube directly, the feedback system, all great options so it should be possible to shorten those links by a script or something.

I believe even the KLOV forum does it, which is a crappy forum (not the content, the engine) otherwise....

I never said that, I said getting laid is better then video games. By your rational you'd do anything to play video games, and thats just sad

Maybe he never plays them anymore? If he has the artwork to put up on them to refurbish them it might have been a passing hobby for him. I'm still not sure I'd do it for something as 'temporary' as a girlfriend though, but they might have been together for 10 years now...

For all we know he still has 10 more cabs....
