Mame32 custom key mapping, or maybe another frontend
« on: June 17, 2008, 03:19:30 am »
I've long run Mamewah as the frontend for my cabby, but in the process of trying to update to the newest version of Mame, everything seems to have gone to the pot.  I decided I'd take the opportunity to start from scratch, but I can't get Mamewah to generate a gamelist, (I get:

6/13/2008 3:46:40 PM Error: 5 Invalid procedure call or argument in MsgExecCmd

).

Anyway, I'm tired of wrestling with it, and I just want something that works (I've had to revert to an ancient romset for over a year because I fiddle with Mamewah for a few hours, get frustrated, come back to it a month later, and repeat).  I don't really care if it looks a little Windows-y, so I'm thinking of going with Mame32.  My issue is that I'd like to map custom keys, so for example, '1' should be mapped to choose a game, the right arrow should be mapped to moving down 40 games, etc.  Is this possible with Mamewah?

Also, am I a candy-ass for giving up on Mamewah?

youki

Does anyone know if it is possible to navigate MAME32 using the X-Arcade stick?

Yes you are.  ;D

You can download the dat file for the version of mame you are using here. http://www.logiqx.com/Dats/
Unzip it and put it inside your mame folder.
Open up your mame.ini from for mamewah. And change the list generation method to:
Code: [Select]
list_generation_method                    rom_folder_vs_dat_file
Also point to your dat file:
Code: [Select]
dat_file                                  C:\juegos\mame123\MAME v0.123.dat
And try generating the list again.
