It is fake.  It's a viral video made for a new Angelina Jolie movie called Wanted.
Heh, pretty bizarre marketing ad.

http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/06/office-freakout.html

Maybe this will teach a few people to be a little more sceptical of internet videos in the future  >:D

That's a stupid way of advertising. If you weren't told that it's an ad, how the hell would you know?

"Wanted" looks horrible. Night/Day Watch were great, but I've laughed at how bad Wanted looks since the first trailer hit.

That is the dumbest ---smurfing--- thing I have ever heard of. The director of the movie has some rock video of the viral thing on his russian blog site. It even included footage from the office guy's camera attached to his tie.

Congrats to the guy for pulling off a sweet viral video, but his whole theory on how and why? I think he needs to learn a few things about "advertisement".  :laugh2:

If I'd been there I'd have been trying to talk him down and then take him down. Might have gotten my behind handed to me. Dunno. If it was just hardware I'd have stayed back, but when he was putting people in danger I couldn't have just watched.

+1

If the dude was freaking out on his own computer i'd let him vent.  As soon as it become a physical issue with the surrounding people,  I am going in regardless.  That said,  I'd likely end up being the poor schmuck who got whacked in the head with the keyboard.

It funny, some people have the "get themselves killed" instinct, and some don't.

I was in a K-Mart store a few years back, when a woman nearby screamed "Hes got my wallet!" as a kid went running out the door.

I dropped my items  on the counter (I was in line to checkout) and sprinted after him.  About halfway across the parking lot the "WTF am I doing?" logic started to kick in.

Luckily, the kid jumped in a waiting car and took off.  All I could do was get the license plate #.  As I was walking back to the store, the security officer finally caught up.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

That's not funny. Those self made USA cowboy cops playing their own judge as well are the shame of the country.

WHAT?  You are kidding right?

In this version you get to see from the point of view of the crazy guy at parts...

...and for those saying the monitor wasn't plugged in...explain how the monitor was ON then...clearly plugged in to SOMETHING.

I take it thats the rock version the director has on his blog that shardian mentioned earlier.  Very bizarre.

Since it was staged, it's obvious they just had the monitor setup so that the cords would easily pull out which explains why it looked like it wasn't plugged in.  It could of also been multiple takes since no camera can be seen on the guy in the original video, although thats unlikely given the amount of destruction and lack of a budget (of course this assumes they didn't have much of a budget, which I could be wrong about since it was ultimately an ad for a big movie).

It's not "advertising" it's "marketing". There's a difference. For one, we all are discussing it here and eventually discovering it's linked to some movie. Mission accomplished on their marketing objective.
NO MORE!!

Agreed, but we're the market. There's a lot of people who simply passed the video around and have no clue where it came from.

I found this thread while looking for information on the movie Wanted.

Apparently it's true that in Russia everything is backwards.  Thanks, Yakov.

Is Wanted the one where the guy can curve bullets the way a pitcher throws a curve ball?  If so it looks like this little video is probably 100x more entertaining than the movie will be (the security cam version, not the retarded rock video).

I agree. It's a shame, too. The director has so much potential (Night Watch, Day Watch) and is wasting it on this garbage.

I was thinking more along the lines of: In Russia, movie advertises viral video!

Speaking of people being useless:

I saw a news clip on the Spanish channel this morning so I don't know the real story.

What's really sad is I don't think this was the same clip I saw, since the one I saw had a guy on a motorcycle weave around the fallen guy AND another guy walking across the street, not stopping.

Hey I got a raise today, and I didn’t even ask.  The owners were doing reviews for people who started in the middle of the year.  I’m thinking those people didn’t ask for as much as they could have.

I won’t be throwing monitors in my office anytime soon.

Keep the good energy flowing and help a stranger this weekend.

This happened in Hartford, CT a week or so ago.  It's sad. VERY sad.  I remember seeing it on the local news and just staring in disbelief.  it wouldn't have been even a 2nd thought for me to run out and make sure the guy was ok.

It does look like he got hit during a car chase. Look at how they are swerving and how they both take that corner.
