Buying a CRT TV from one of the 2... any suggestions?
« on: April 30, 2008, 03:29:55 pm »
Anyone have any ideas on the TVs below?  Will it work ok in my cabinet?  Any way to see if it has the "save state" feature where one it turns off it remains on the same state as it was before you turned it off (so I can power off and on with a power strip and not have to configure stuff every time).  Probably using the smartstrip option.

any advice/help would be great!  Hard to find a CRT tube 27inch for this cheap and new (without having to pay shipping)!

I have a 27" sansui tube TV.

I don't know about THIS model,  but mine remebers the input, but not the power setting.

HOWEVER, if you hold down the power button, when you plug it back in, it turns on.  So if you're going to use this in a cabinet with something like the smartstrip, then you should be good to go, if it has the same feature.  Just tape the button down (or if you take it out of the case, use something to keep the button on the circuit board held down.  No problems! :)

Yeah, after reading more and more about RCA I think I am back to square one.  I guess I'll start scoping pawn shops as the "power-return" feature is huge for me, and it seems like it's very hard to find out if that is included without testing it yourself.

From what I hear on these boards it seems like most Toshiba's have the power return feature.

many newer sets can be set to pwr up upon connection to AC mains via menu setting.
those that can't ,can be made to do so with a simple circuit.  ;)
pm for details
