Miracles are not the same because for the most part the events they call miracles actually happened, its just a matter of calling it a miracle or a lucky coincidence.

Also, religious discusions should go into the Politics and Religion section.  You probably would of been safe before your edit, but you explicitly called the catholic faith into question.

lol, fair enough, but I doubt that miracle water and prayer rocks are sanctioned by the catholic church  :P

*edit* reading more of the article I see the church has recognized several miracles at the spring itself, and the website made the leap that it must mean the water from the spring is miracle water.

Lol, I like their indignation in this:
Quote
They say the new rules will shift the responsibility of proving they are not frauds from prosecutors and onto them.
What, you first need to prove that your treatment is actually doing something? That's just such a bizarre concept. What will they think of next. So unfair  ::)

In the Netherlands in April, the medical profession set itself stricter rules regarding alternative medicine. Not sure how much good that does. I doubt "healers" are even a member since they are not doctors anyway.

The justice department is being forced into suing a "spiritual healer" who killed someone by telling her not to take chemotherapy to cure her breast cancer. The healer "felt" that it was just an infection and that the doctors were wrong. In the healer's defense, the patient had already asked for a fourth opinion (which all said she had breast cancer) so she just didn't want to listen to reason too.

At about age 11, I witnessed a ghost.  Fully brightly lit stairway.  Only 12 feet away.  Clear
as a bell.   Never did any drugs.  Didnt drink till age 25.   Didnt see another ever again.

When I was in Florida, at from ages 18-20... I found 'newage'.   A close
friend led me to it.   I then found an occult book store, and started to take their
"psychic classes".

Ive went thru the details before.. but skipping to the results... I actually got them.
Random premonitions came to me, and they were accurate as the events came to be
real just hours later.

Also, in our tests, I increased my score every week about 10 points.  The test was
where one sent a  colored shape  via  the mind to a partner. (such as a green star, or blue triangle.)  The reader had to receive the thing and say it.   The sender
then scored the results.

It took some time before I got good results... but after a time, I was simply beyond
probability.   I was getting 6 in a row... and getting more right than wrong.
Imagine the possibility of getting 6 cards correct in a row,  each could be
either Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple... and also were any shape of:
Star, Triangle, Circle, Square, and one other - I think was wavy lines.    Now, imagine
a 4yr old also getting 6 in a row.   I had her try it, and she didnt miss a single one
until I expressed amazement.   After that,  she started to guess instead of read
what was coming in.

Ive also had a hand healing performed on me,  and I could in fact feel something
happening.   And later, I was also able to heal with my hands.  Curing a ladies headache
within less than 5min time.

I then also point you to the Monks who go to the high mountains to meditate.  They
are dressed in almost nothing.  Then, they take off their shirts, and drop ice cold
wet sheets on their backs.   The temperature is below 40 degrees up there.  They
should be shivering uncontrollably... and going into hypothermia.   Instead, they
end up heating the wet sheets to the point that they start to steam up, and actually
are perfectly Dry!   The Scientist witnessed it, and are baffled.

There is also another video of a monk who created shocks with his own body,
using it to heal.   He healed one of the scientists arthritis,  fixed another's eye...
and sent many shocks to them that they couldnt seems to get anything to
measure - yet totally jolted them, making them jump.

There are things that science can not prove nor understand today.

And its true,  that if a person has to prove that they are gifted.. then someone who believes in god should also have to prove he exists.   As there is far more people using religion for nefarious purposes than the occult.    Money is raining into the televangelists pockets... and they are using it to live lavish lifestyles... not help the needy.

(or using their power and position to take advantage of little children)

Many New age concepts use mediation, and believe in goodness.  Spirituality.  Spreading
and feeling love and compassion.   Religion often disguises in these, yet often hypocritically
does the opposite.   Using harsh judgments and fear mongering to empty your
wallets and strip good morality from your souls.

First it starts with the occult... next it will be attacking religion of ANY Kind.
Then it will be attacking the very thoughts you have...
Sad indeed.

Xiaou2,

Is it possible for me to attain any other powers through the dark arts?  You say you got psychic and healing powers.  Those seem mildly interesting, but I'm more in the market for things like mind-control, so I can make people, especially women, do my bidding.  Other powers that interest me are telekinesis, shape-shifting, invisibility, and the ability to shoot fireballs, preferably from my hands, but alternatively from my eyes.  For full-disclosure I want to point out that while many of these powers could be used for neutral, or even benevolent purposes, I have no such intentions.  My interest in them stems almost exclusively from selfishness, greed and just a general, all-around depravity.  Anyway, can you point me in the right direction?  Where does one get started with this stuff?  Luckily, I live in Florida, so you are probably uniquely qualified to advise me.

You're thinking Xaiou is a lunatic.

I got my incredible psychic powers when I slipped on a banana peel, fell under a moving steamroller, then got struck in the head by lightning.

Well, I just think it's a miracle that I'm still alive.  I don't know what to believe.  Sometimes, I wonder if my being here is worth anything.  At other times, I feel like king of the world.  It's really amazing our existance.  I try not to think about it too much as it just hurts my brain.

I didnt stick with the stuff for too long.   I was merely after proof of things
supernatural, that was well beyond a doubt... and after that, I decided to
cease the activities.   When I stopped, they intuitive things faded away for
the most part.  Also, no more premonitions.

The sighting of the ghost was merely coincidental...  but I have to say,
the most shocking thing thats ever happened to me.   It was like a deer getting
caught in headlights.  My body was frozen in terror and shock.   As much as
one might think they could be prepared for that... they just wont be.

I never did anything negative, nor forced my will upon others.  I dont think its possible.  In fact, I dont think anyone can even read anything from you, unless you allow it to take place.

I have a theory about those who do have powers that are more pronounced...
These people are using a group of spirits to help them, from the other side.
These usually are very angered and lost souls..  and they are wicked.   Usually,
they try to take over the host eventually.   Draining their energy, and using them
to re-experience life in a physical way.   They will poison the mind and heart
with twisted thoughts and negative emotions of their own.   Once they gain certain amount of power, they can be nearly impossible to boot out.

If you mess with such dark things... such as ouija boards,  you can open a
gateway for them to enter and gain power through you.    Many times this
never happens, merely because people dont believe... thus, no power is
given to allow them to materialize in any way.

Usually darkness brings upon that primortal fear in people, and causes that
brief suspension of  'Dis-belief'.    Once this happens, that gateway starts to
open.

I liken it to a radio station.   There are many stations out there... yet, if you
only tune in to  99.3  ,   then that is all you will ever know exists.   But,  some people
can tune into  100.2.    They can see and even feel, what others can not.    As
the spirit world seems to be able to be experienced if one chooses to sense it.

Typically, to feel things that are so weak in  signal strength... one has to be very
good at quieting out their own minds.   If you are thinking aloud inside yourself,
... then you can not hear or experience the other stuff.    This "Empty Mind"  stuff
takes a lot of time to develop.   You start out with meditations and special
breath exercises.

I was meditating at least 2 times a day, (sometimes more)  for  the least of 1hr each session... sometimes more + various other exercises.    And doing that 7 days a week.   In only 1 month,  the difference was amazing and profound.

In everyday waking life,  I felt very happy and joyous.   I felt kinda like I was
floating on a cloud.   Was pretty amazing.

I sometimes miss that..  but,  meditation is a hard discipline.   Turning inside was
cool... and experiencing the other side was great.. but,  I decided I was spending
too much time  'not living life'.    As meditation is somewhat like death.   You slow
your breathing and heart down.  You quiet your soul.   You are in solitude and
quiet.   You deprive yourself of hearing, touch, taste..etc..

In discovering that there really is much more after this lifetime... it gave me
much more internal strength in this life.   I now choose to live this life to its
fullest.   I appreciate everything much more now.  Even the smallest details that
once I took for granted.   The very feeling of air flowing in and out of the lungs
for example..     Life...everything in this reality.. Its all just such a miraculous and beautiful thing.  So artistic.. and so improbable.

Its the greatest gift that one could ever receive and experience.

I will always recommend that people try mediation for at least a month or two
in their lifetime.   Its really a life changing experience.

That's a lie!  Everyone knows that radios jump directly from 100.1 to 100.3.  Odd numbers only.

Anyway, Xiaou2, you didn't really answer much of my question.  Apparently forcing my will on others is out, but what about telekinesis, shape-shifting, invisibility, and the ability to shoot fireballs from my hands?  I'm probably interested in other powers that I can use for evil as well.  You're my only connection with the dark arts.  Where do I need to go to get started.  Also, if I'm willing to sell my soul can I speed up the process.  I'd rather not have to work super hard for this stuff.  I have very little free time in my life, with school, plus a wife and daughter.

I think there are more people here than just shmokes who would want to learn to use psychic powers. Maybe we need a separate "Build Your Own Psychic Powers" forum for this?

BYOAC has members all over the world. If we would train at least one person in each country we could effectively take over the world. We could bring back the whole industry of arcade cabs just by making people want to play these games.

Yeah me too!  And the odd thing is, that "feeling" was cyclical because it kept coming back at random, then going away, then coming back.  It was an itchy feeling as well.....................

Rayb,  as I said already... I stopped doing that stuff about 15 yrs ago.   After I stopped the
meditations,  internal cleansings,  and drills...  the ability vanished.    As the saying
goes...   If you dont use it, you lose it.     Only once in a great while something may sneak in
from time to time... but its an extreme rarity.

Also, there is too much involved.  Time variance of when you sent the image.  Did you actually
try to willfully send it?   Or just merely drew the shape and thought..."He will never get this".

(Just for giggles,  I could guess:  and say its a mario like star.  Yellow line, not solid.   Though,
Im probably dead wrong   heh     As I said,  Ive lost that long ago.)

People who move things with the mind are more than likely using other spirts to do so.  Poltergeist.

Ive never heard of shape shifting, nor invisibility.

No fireballs... but some have claimed they could gather Chi (invisible energy) and project it... knocking
an attacker out cold without touch.   Its said to take over 25 yrs consistent work to gather enough chi to be able to perform such an act.   Not usually something that many would attempts...

Sell a soul?  To whom?   Sorry, I dont believe in any central Devil.

However, I do believe, as Ive said, that there are wicked souls out there that ban
together to raise havoc.     They are more than willing to help you, in exchange for
them inhabiting you.   Sure, after a while they may cause you to commit suicide.. but for
a brief time,  you just may be able to turn off a light switch with your thought.  (even if
its an illusion that they create - as really, they do the work themselves at your desire)

I of course realize you are being a smart A**.     But, simply put, I will answer realistically
and truthfully anyway.   As I have experienced things that would make you drop a load in your
shorts.   Weather you wish to believe them - I could care less.

I dont nor ever would advise messing with contact of the spirits.   Everyone thinks it all fun and
games... and is a real big joke... until something comes thru the gateway and wont leave.

Talk to others and ask around.  More than likely, you will find many people who have seen
a ghost.  Even inside your own family.    You may also find people who have had vivid premonitions.
Many dont like to talk about that stuff cause they fell that others will think they are crazy.  I
really couldnt care less what others think.. so I tell it like it is.

Honestly, I dont expect others to believe, because parents instill into every child that there are
no such things as monsters/Ghosts.   And some are so fearful of the reality of such things existing, that they will go to the extremes to try to disprove or mock others over it.   Again, a fear driven
tactic.

Fear does not make the truth however.

Actually, my mother could and still can see ghosts/spirits  (last time I talked with her).
Growing up with her, she always told us that she hated liars (my father :P  )  and wanted to always
tell us the truth about things.   Even about sexual things.   Her reasoning,  was due to her
having her period in school and flipping out because she didnt know what was happening to
her.   Her mother never told her about such things,  so she was quite pissed about that.

Anyways, she told us stuff that scared the crap out of us (The old house where she lived was haunted, and she had Many bad experiences there)...  yet, it kept us open minded. More
so than most... which is why I may have been more able to see one too.

As for Healing hands...

The hands were held about 6" away from the body.    However, as they slowly swept the surface, you
felt a heat that was much hotter than should have been possible.   There was also a light
tingle... like an electrical current.   Subtle, but definitely something you could feel if you paid attention
to it.

I'm not afraid in the slightest.  I'll go up against any spirit, any day of the week.  Satan himself would fall on his knees before me.  The next time you see a ghost, please tell him/her that I think he/she is a pansy ass.  Unless that ghost wants to be my invisible slave and give me apparent telekinetic powers, in which case tell him/her that I said he/she is a badass.

I have zero tolerance for any of this crap. I can't believe people are so incredibly gullible and pathetically stupid  that they allow their tiny minds to be convinced that such things are real.

Personally, I think the stupid deserve to get ripped off. If you are so mentally challenged that you believe in this horse ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- and then foolish enough to hand over good money to somebody claiming any sort of physic powers, then you get what you deserve.

Yeah, or this one:
31 of 53 teen girls at FLDS ranch are pregnant or had baby

Quote
polygamy brings glorification in heaven. Its leader, Warren Jeffs, is revered as a prophet.

In the Netherlands we have some rural areas where orthodox protestants live. They don't vaccinate their kids on the grounds of religious believes. Every few years "god tests their faith" and an epidemic breaks out
