Best Saw Blade for MDF?
« on: April 14, 2008, 10:46:42 am »
Hello,

What type of circular saw blade is best for cutting 3/4" MDF? Specifically, how many teeth should the blade have?

Thanks for your help.

After reading other posts on this forum... I've seen recommendations of 40 and 60 tooth blades for MDF.

I decided to go with the 40 for my first project (currently in process).

Cuts smooth... no rips... no burns.

... of course... I think that it helps that it's a sharp new blade.
... Why is it that you always find it in the last place that you look? ...

That is pretty much the key there. I just have the standard 40 tooth blade on my saw and it cuts MDF just fine. I have a 60 tooth blade, but have never felt the need for it yet. I wouldn't use anything too nice though, because MDF is rough on blades.

Thanks for the advice. I'll go with the 40 tooth.
