Mamewah Sound problem
« on: April 09, 2008, 05:04:02 pm »
I am having some problems with the backround sound in mamewah 1.62. I have put my music in the proper location (C:\juegos\musica and is mapped as such in the cfg file) and it works fine, but if I add more than one nothing plays at all. Also, when the song ends it stops. Is there a certain command I need after the song ({repeat, loop})? I have asked this in another thread, with no luck, but decided to make a new one since somebody else may have this problem. Thanks.
Kick Ass!

If you only have one song in the folder it will not loop for some reason.
I whats having the same problem, so I just added a copy of he same song and it worked fine. But that kinda conflicts with your other problem.  Not sure about the multipe songs and not playing.
My suggestion would be to make sure there are no "dead air" in your tracks, possibly shorten down any long file names and make sure mamewah supports the audio file you are trying to play, restart, and hit next track and cross your fingers.

My file name is freedom.mp3 (R.A.T.M.). There is no "dead air" after the song either. Is the problem due to MP3 file, would it work better in a AVI format? What are you guys using? Thanks for the help.

I was until recently using MP3's on my cabinet and although I have never had only one song, I know it played all the tunes ok. That said I haven't had music enabled for a while (definately not since I released v1.62final). I will re-enable it and do a few tests to see if I can reproduce this.

Just to add to what ScooterMAC said, I only have one mp3 (arcade83.mp3) and when it's done, it's done. I have to restart mamewah completely if I want it to start again. (well, I've never tried the "next track" function)

Also, unrelated to sound, if I run MAME, I can't get NES, SNES, or Genesis (the only other emus I have in mamewah) to work. If I restart Mamewah and go straight to the consoles, they work fine, but if I use MAME, they stop working. This happened in both b13 and the final.

EDIT: Oh, and if I try to launch any emulator other than MAME after MAME has been used, it crashes to windows after a few seconds.

it you want it to loop just add another song or a copy of the first ie arcade83A.mp3 and it will loop for you.

As for your other problems sound like Mame is causing some issues.  Check the log for errors .  Can you go in and out of console ok??? can you run Mame more than one time??

Yeah...I read it the first time. I was just saying that it happened to me too.

MAME runs fine repeatedly. I can play it for hours. It's just when I switch to consoles that it messes up. I can start mamewah and go straight to other emus and they run fine. I can exit SNES and go play Genesis, then jump to NES. The moment I run MAME, I lose the ability to run consoles, but MAME will continue working fine.

What version of Mame? I don't think I have heard of anyone else with this problem...sounds like an odd one  ???

Minwah:
I tried setting mamewah to run itself on exit (run_app on exit), but it never would work. Since I can't figure out the problem I've having with other emus after running Mame, I thought I'd setup a reset button that would close MameWAH and restart it again. That way the other emus would work.

How exactly should I enter the run_app line? When I just point it to c:\mamewah\mamewah.exe it doesn't work. Is there more needed than that?

That's the same way I have it. ???
You could try changing emulator command line to one of these to see if it exits properly.

Code: [Select]
c:\fastmame\fastmame.exe [name]{nodosbox}{safelaunch}
Code: [Select]
c:\fastmame\fastmame.exe [name]{nodosbox}{nosafelaunch}
Have you checked your mamewah.log  to see what error comes up when you exit mame?
Delete it first so you only get the latest error.

Ok, figured out what was causing my problem.

The only emulator I was using a gamelaunch.wav with was MAME. None of the others had one.

I deleted that file and everything works fine now.

I don't know WHY it caused an issue, but it did.

So it WAS a mamewah issue, and not emulator based.

Sorry I missed all this but glad you figured it out...thanks for the info. I use a 'gamelaunch' sound but it is global (for all emulators), although I don't see why that would be any different. I'll see if I can reproduce the problem...
