Hey guys, I have an old Street Fighter 2 JAMMA setup, kinda working with a JPAC plugged into my GeForce 5700 LE...

If I choose the right resolution in Powerstrip I can see decent doubled up output, and I see the doubled output for the BIOS as well... I'm *pretty* sure that if I run some fullscreen MAME and have it output the correct resolution, it should work right (display flickers slightly)...

Anyway, the problem...

The GeForce 5700 LE has 3 outputs, a standard VGA output, a TV output, and a DVI output...

Currently, I use my VGA output for my main monitor, so, if I run wonky resolutions/15khz etc, I get either a really ugly display or none whatsoever...  What I'd really like to do, is use the DVI output (with VGA converter) to output to the arcade machine, and set the paramaters for that using powerstrip or soft15khz or something.

The problem is, my computer refuses to detect that I have anything plugged into that DVI port...

My question...

How can I force windows to output to that DVI port?  All the NVidia tools allow me to do is force windows to output on the S-Video port (I'm not above caving and finding an svideo to vga converter if it's the last resort, but, I'd love to just handle it as a second monitor... my current PC has a really nice setup and I'd like to use it to power both my desktop gaming and my arcade cabinet gaming)

Anyway, all suggestions and input are welcome/appreciated... I'll be watching this thread like a hawk for input, because honestly I'm all out of ammo... tried just about all I can think of.

Happy Easter, btw.

****** Update *******
I am now running my primary monitor off of the DVI->VGA converted port and it works fine... the arcade monitor->JPAC->VGA port, however, still goes undetected...  is there any way to tell windows that there is in fact something there that needs to be treated like a 2nd display?

I think what you're missing is the following: in your nvidia control panel....or right-click your nvidia task bar icon and select (I think) 'display', then 'clone'.

I don't get any sort of option because as far as my video card is concerned, I have only 1 display plugged in, and that's my regular monitor, no matter which of the ports on the back of the card I use...

It simply pretends like there's no arcade screen there, unless I use only one display and output it at like 640x480 interlaced 15khz etc etc...

Since it doesn't know I have 2 things plugged in, "cloning" or "dualview" or any of those options are unavailable to me.

Has anyone had a similar problem or know a way to force it to output to that display?  I can get it to do a monitor and a TV on the S-Video port, but, not two monitors, one VGA and one DVI...

Another update.  I've tricked it by plugging in a real 2nd monitor and setting it up the way I need it, and then switching cables.

I really wish I could figure out a way to not have to switch cables....

Are you trying to get your arcade monitor running as the second monitor, while having a PC monitor also hooked up? The thing is your card will never detect your arcade monitor, because arcade monitors don't send ID signals they only receive R.G.B. H & V Syncs and ground. So theirs no way for for the card to know the arcade monitor is hooked up as a second monitor. But as a primary monitor it will work, cause the card is always sending the signal on the first slot regardless if a monitor is detected or not. So all you should have to do is have a PC monitor hooked up first, setup power strip for the arcade resolution you want to use, then turn off the PC. Now just hook up only the arcade monitor, and wait till windows loads and the turn on your arcade monitor. This is the way i had mine first hooked up before buying an ArcadeVGA. Then in the end i ended up ditching the ArcadeVGA & arcade monitor for a regular TV with DVI to component hookup. In my opinion having arcade monitor setup is only a good choice if your only planing on running MAME with a hand full of games. If your planing on running the full list of MAME titles plus all the console emulators and maybe some PC games, then a TV is a much better choice. Too bad i learned this after a pricey arcade monitor purchase. Anyways that's just something to consider but kinda of subject. So having it setup the way i explained should work with no problems.

That's an interesting take on it.  Right now I'm just booting with an extra monitor I had laying around plugged in, and then swapping out to the arcade monitor when it gets booted up, but, your way sounds like it could eliminate the need for that extra monitor (the girlfriend will probably be pleased to have one less screen in the room).

As far as TV vs. Arcade monitor... so far, I haven't run into an issue.  I've tried out about 100 games at various aspect ratios etc using MAME 32, Gens (For genesis and SegaCD), JNES (Nintendo) and ZSNES (SNES).  Everything seems to come through A-OK, even games with strange resolutions (tall skinny games like 1942, for instance) seem to work fine...  so, for all intents and purposes it acts just like a TV for me...

The thing is though, I got mine for free, and it's in, I'd say, about 90% condition (a little rough around the top edge)... it's kind of incredible what people will just throw away, and while some business or person might consider an arcade machine "trash", I know there are literally THOUSANDS of people out there like I was who would love to have one.

A local movie theater was closing and threw out their arcade machines for the trash to pick up.  I had a friend ask the manager if we could haul stuff away, and he gave the go-ahead.  Unfortunately, we made the discovery at 10 PM, or I could have had a few more machines...  I got a Street Fighter 2, but there was also an off-road and a virtua fighter...  Someone had smartly already slipped by and removed the JAMMA PCBs though, probably to sell on ebay for a good $40 or so apiece.

Anyway, I digress, thanks for your help.
