I bought a Wacko!
« on: March 16, 2008, 01:16:32 pm »
I went to a Local Skating Rink and bought Wacko for 75 dollars (then insinde it had 8.27 in coins). I was told it didnt work... however on looking at it my friend and i noticed that the backdoor switch was bent back, unabling the machine to turn on. Nothing a little duck tape couldnt fix (temporarily). The machine is now working well enough to play, (the coin mech also works)? After removing a 5 gallon shopvac of dust the machine was clean enough to put inside. \

Here are pics of it! A few little fixes is all it needs! (woodworking, and audio forums, monitor forums)

AWESOME find for $75 ... try pulling the interlock switch instead of duct-taping it.

8.27 in coins?   :laugh2:  Nope, folks, they don't work on pennies.

That and i forgot to mention 30 tickets jammed in the coin mech and under the trackball, as well as some smiley faced stickers!!!

with the 8 dollars i can get into the place and send the 30 tickets to buy some plastic army men... :laugh2:

The game actually plays great, the trackball needs to be cleaned better then i did the first time! but actual game works great for me to have bought in "non working condition." You can barely tell that the control panel is tilted while playing it! That and the game gets ridiculously fast... i dont know how the guy on twin galaxies made a million+ points.

How are you planning on fixing the slopping stuff? I've never seen a cabinet bend like that before? What happened to it?

I think you got hosed man, that looks really broken.

Yeah, i did some research and in the early 80's Bally-Midway had drink on the job day, and low and behold a week later Wacko was available.  :dunno

Update:

Today I went to The Home Depot and bought stuff to fix my Wacko Corner, Here are some pics of it while i am waiting on the Wood Glue to dry. Then i will apply the Patch-N-Paint wait for that to dry.

I took the cut out piece to the home depot paint girl for a paint match and she got it so perfect that you you wont be able to tell the difference, which was weird because when did hot girls start working at home depot?

Paint pics to come (prob tommorow)!

Not bad brotha ( in Hulk Hogan voice)

You may want to paint over the seam and into the original part of the cab to blend it in more.

How many coats did you put on it?  And did you sand in between coats?

AND.... best question.  What is your highest score so far?

Thanks Bro!!
I did paint into the cab, but its hard doing it over the white Patch-N-Paint! I put 2 coats on it already but i will prob do another one, the flash on the camera makes it worse then it really is! Highest is 60,850, but average is around 50,000. All i have to do is videotape it...

You would have a number 6 score.

If you can get to 80,000 you will get a new man.  That's the ticket.

I know, its tough being me... LOL!! If only i could get there, i can make it to 4th level with all 4 men then get a gay death, and then get pissed and get gayed ever harder the next level. I want to at least get 5th place, Because 6th is "all to easy"

Good score man!!!  :applaud:  :applaud:  :applaud: and nice work! I remember than machine well. I used to play it. The odd design of the cabinet really set it off in a leaning Tower Of Piza sort of way :)
