Following requests from a number of forum members, i've decided to "prostitute" my artistic skills and offer everyone on the forum the oppurtunity to have custom character artwork for their cabs. So im proud to present...............

As well as standard CP, marquee etc. artwork I offer completely customised character design avaliable at 300dpi via digital transfer or sent to you on CDR. Please note I do not offer print services; for printing I recommend heading on over to mamemarquees. All example work is for sale at $40 / £20, however custom artwork will be charged based upon artwork complexity. Please remember I do this for fun and to benefit the community. Custom work requires a lot of time that I could be spending playing Guitar Hero!!

Here's an example of a quick character I created yesterday night after a particular long session of "rock the 80's"

First the character is roughly sketched to give that "Rock Chick" Feel!

Next the character is painted, this particular character is airbrushed

Finally detailling and other side art elements are done resulting in...

For a clearer view of the final piece http://www.btinternet.com/~waveryder/Example/RC_Example.png

Anyone that requires my "stylus for hire" feel free to PM me or email me at bubblegum.betty@gmail.com Cheers!

(More examples will follow. All example work is for sale)

No "process" on this one just the finished piece. It is consturcted in the same way as "Rock Chick" above but is designed for a more subtle look, softer airbrushing and softer lines. This one is designed for sideart and kickplate usage. But is avaliable for wherever you want on your cabs. So im proud to present..............."Ice"

Last example for a while as I gotta keep this in perspective, I have a life after all. LOL. Anyway this is again a different style more in line with my Bubble Gum Betty art. It is hard shaded rather than airbrushed. This again is 300dpi an scalable to practically any size. Again designed for sideart but the character can be drawn to fit any part of your cabinet. So im proud to present..............."Vicky"

Just finished a commisioned piece for Green Giant. He wanted Bubblegum Betty but thats a no no! So I produced him a character on the same lines. The brief required a character in a bent down position with candy floss styled hair. I used a mixture of Hard and Airbrushed shading on this one. Thankfully Green Giant left a lot of this one upto me. So im proud to present..............."Victorious Secret"

Question: Can you produce other kinds of character artwork? i.e game characters etc. or do you only draw large chested girls?
Answer: Well I can draw other things apart from large chested girls..................but why would I want to!!
                                                                                                                                          (googletalk chat with potential customer)

For all you "Beat 'em up" fans, heres a little treat. This image originally appeared in streetfighter comics by the udon crew. Nice picture but a bit too "comicy" in style for my liking, but the image was so effective. I loved it so much I just had to draw it! I drew this one from a tiny 72dpi jpeg I found on google images. It was sketched at A3 resolution due to its complexity. I inked it in Illustrator and painted it at A3 300dpi in Photoshop. It is HUGE!! I painted this with hard shading as it gives a great stenciled look to the finished piece making it much more fitting than the original for cabinet use. The black glow around it is just for display purposes. This piece could be used anywhere on your cab or even your frontend. It was a mammoth task reproducing this one and frankly after 2 days drawing and inking and 2 days coloring this I need a nap! So im proud to present..............."Ryu & Chun-li Round 1"

Anyone that requires my "stylus for hire" feel free to PM me or email me at bubblegum.betty@gmail.com Cheers!

Im starting to put together a website for my custom art. I could really use somewhere to put it. Due to the high graphic content my free 5mb from my ISP just wont cut it. Any offers of space would be greatfully recieved. I would also be open to trade for some custom art.

Oh my god!

Cant wait to see this!

C&D is one of my favourite games of all time. Its definitely the one i spent most of my hard earn't 20p's on! I loved it even though it was set to single play with no continue. I could get up to the first time you fight Slice on one credit, I think I may have beat him once. It wasn't until I got MAME (suprise, suprise it was the first game I played) that I could set it to play with continues (and free credits  Grin). I was in heaven that day Smiley

I'm almost tempted to change my cocktail theme if there is going to be artwork! Maybe not for this project though.

If you do do something with some/all (here's hoping) of the characters I would definitely be up for buying or splitting the costs to get some art mounted on a canvas.

I think a 1.5M x 1M montage of some of the characters would be awesome. Maybe with the Cadillac behind them and possibly the jungle with some dinosaurs from the 2nd level behind that?  Or maybe one of the other backdrops? A lot to ask I know but a man can dream  Smiley

I thought id try out some new artwork styles in photoshop. And here is the result. Rather than just the character I have decided to use it as the basis for some completed cabinet work. This work although designed by me is based on a frame from the SF comics. The piece has been redrawn, re-inked  and hand painted at 300dpi. It looks amazing when printed at full resolution. This piece is designed for Marquee and Kickplate use. It is 28" by 8" which seems to be a common marquee size.

It can be resized on request. The test logo I have placed on the image can be removed and replaced with your own, just send me a 300dpi version of your logo. The image measureses 28"x 8" / 66 x 20 cm / 7800 x 2400 pixels and is avaliable in the format of your choice. This image will not be retired on sale as by request I have begun to produce some more budget artwork. This piece is for sale for $25 and can be used within your project as much as you like.

Anyone that requires my "stylus for hire" feel free to PM me or email me at bubblegum.betty@gmail.com Cheers!

(This piece of artwork is for sale at $25/£12.50)

I hope you're still doing this when I get done with my cabinet. Probably in four to six months from now. I wonder if you'd be interested in doing some street fighter vs x-men art for my marquee and sides. Maybe my control panel. Depends on how much money I have left in the budget for the build. I'd love to see Gambit and Rogue done in your art style. I'll contact you about what I want exactly when it's about time for me to put this stuff on.

Havent posted any examples for a while as I have been doing a lot of custom work. I am going to wait until the cabs are finished so that the cab creators can post the pics of the artwork on their project threads first. Im still working on some stock sale artwork. Im produceing a lot of themed control panels at the moment:

Marvel VS Capcom
Mortal Kombat
Dragons Lair (So hard drawing like don Bluth!)

As well as all the custom requests that I've had in. I have no plans to shut up shop until my work isnt wanted anymore. I think that'll be a while as lets face it how many artists would sell there work and time for my prices! I Like helping the community and after this many years as member, giving something back.

I also wanted to add that all of my stock work, posted on this thread is also avaliable for trade. Im always looking for parts for my cab and am happy to discuss trading arcade parts for any of the example work posted. I dont trade for custom work though im afraid. Im especially interested in a steering wheel and pedal setup for my cab.

Anyway back to slaving over a computer screen and stylus  Wink

Last post till I get upto date with the commisions I've got. Some exciting stuff! Anyway, let me tell you a story:
Along Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away.......(sorry watching StarWars lol) Different kind of story. This story doesn't involve brothers, sisters, fathers or sons, no this is an artwork story. (Your asleep already arent you?)

WAKE UP! Right down to the story. I get many requests for artwork, usually from people that dont really have an idea what they want until they see it. To this end I produce rough sketchwork. Usually a piece will require 1-3 sketches before a client will agree what they want. So what happens to the other pieces......I'm glad you asked. Usually an unwanted sketch ends up in my waste bin or as a shopping list or as paper for my little boys crayon practice. Sometimes it can even end up as tiolet paper when I forgot to change the roll and cant shimmy downstairs with my trousers round my ankles. But sometimes, just sometimes, I think a sketch is so good it would be a an "art crime" to not finish it. This is one such piece of artwork.

The client requested a cutey sexy anime styled girl (ha! just what I like) and I produced this sketch to illustrate my idea.
After watching Perfect Blue the other night I was all CHAMed up and that tends to be how my artwork is affected. So I produced a character based upon Japanese Pop Idols. Unfortunately my client didn't go for it, as is the way sometimes and went in a completely different direction. What to do with the sketch, I couldnt throw it away and the longer it sat on my desk the more it bugged me that she wasnt finished and had no face! So that was it I couldnt bear it anymore and this morning went straight to work!!!

This piece is dedicated to "NoddyP & Victor Meldrew" Who check my latest artwork religiously. This piece is 16" x 16" at 300dpi and measures a whopping 4770x4770 pixels and is avaliable in the format of your choice. It can be resised higher than A0 with no loss of quality. This image will not be retired on sale as by request. This piece is for sale for $50 and can be used within your project as much as you like. This is one of my favourite character pieces and almost tempts me to get another cab on the go just so I can put it up somewhere! So without further ado Im proud to present.............."Akimmy"

Anyone that requires my "stylus for hire" feel free to PM me or email me at bubblegum.betty@gmail.com Cheers!

Perhaps you should read the actual post. It states quite clearly it is tribute piece! Perhaps you would notice if you actually read this thread that all images I have redrawn from existing images state the words, "redrawn, tribute and not retired piece" I always state quite clearly if the work im selling is custom or redrawn. This piece is  for sale as it takes an incredible amount of work to redraw and create an infinitley scalable vector from of a 72dpi scan! The artwork belongs to me as I created it! I sell it for a tiny fee (Have you seen the exchange rate!) to cover my time and the work involved!

I dont know what you are attempting to accomplish with this thread bossyman15? In future please think before disrupting a thread that it is clear you have not even read. Please dont post image inserted quotes in this thread as it is an advertising thread and  graphic heavy. Please dont post your issues in this thread as it is an advertising thread and not a place for disscussion.

Got a couple of Comission pieces outta the way and still managed to get some work done on my cab and get some work on the "BubbleGum Custom Art" website done. Phew! Found some time to do another stock character piece.
This piece is 13" x 17" at 300dpi and measures a whopping 4180x5361 pixels and is avaliable in the format of your choice. It can be resised to as high as A0 with no loss of quality. This image is one of my new sideart ranges for the website and will be closely followed by a matching CP, Marquee and Kickplate. This piece is for sale for $40 and can be used within your project as much as you like. So Im proud to present.............."Playtime"

As always, amazing work!!!  If I might suggest a correction to Playtime, how would she look if you removed her left arm and instead complete the halo background (i.e. you can't see her left arm because it's being used as support behind her hair).

That might look even better!!!

Keep up the AMAZING work!

JoeB
Cheers for the feedback and constructive idea. It's always harder with these stock pieces. I cant help but look at a piece of non commissioned artwork from my point of view. It's much nicer when people take the time to give an idea or a constructive criticism. I am doing this for the community after all and its always good to hear what people think, gives me a better idea of what people are looking for. So with that in mind, to show my appreciation, here's a piece with a few revisions dedicated to JoeB (its not for sale!) So Im proud to present.............."JoeB's Playtime"

Snake, the cads and dinos art is coming (you said no hurry!!!) I've decided to go in a new direction with it. Coincedence you were think a light box, I was redrawing the whole cast + car + dino's for a "blacklight" print at A1. Imagine arcade games mixed with the 70's. Boggles the mind doesn't it. Been messing with blacklights with my cabs external lighting and wanted to try it for some gameroom artwork. Anyway the full line art is being drawn at size and is presently sitting on my ezel but its nowhere near finished. Gimme a couple of weeks and I'll have something to blow your mind. Get ready for a "Groovy Suprise!"

I just wanted to throw my hat in to the ring and say: waveryder, Ive been following your work for some time and am very impressed. You are doing good work for the board, and I feel that this is only the begining of some great work you are going to do. You, like pixelhugger are extremely valuable because you do what a lot of the projects on this forum need (good art).  Just wanna say, I can't wait to see what you do next!

just thought i'd show my latest commission piece. This was a monster piece to produce as it's my first 4 player panel with all the trimmings. My client game me his specs for controls and layout and general theme, the rest was left upto me.........as long as it had a ninja somewhere in it. My client gave lots of feedback and followed the whole production process. My client was pleased so I thought i'd share it, I dont usually do this kind of work as I prefer to produce character based artwork, so we agreed that I could put at least one character on it (even if its only a silhouette  Wink) So Im proud to present.............."The Ninjacade CP"

IMPORTANT:
Due to an argument with my ISP provider which resulted in me making a comparrison between his mother and a baboon's bottom, I will be loosing my Internet access sometime between now and tuesday. I will attempt to access my email at least once a day but cant promise. So if you want to get in touch with me or are awaiting sketches/artwork please be understanding. I should have access again in about 5 days as my new ISP has to lay a cable under my driveway.

Still got my internet access YAY!! Dont know for how long so I thought i'd get some more budget stock up. This one is based on a panel I designed for a customers cab. They decided to go a completely different direction so I thought i'd finish it and adapt it for sale in my budget range. This piece is 35" x 15" at 250dpi and measures a whopping 8750x3750 pixels and is avaliable in the format of your choice. This piece is for sale for $30 and can be used within your project as much as you like. So Im proud to present.............."Karbon-1 and Karbon 2"
