Is Flyback hum / buzz normal?
« on: March 11, 2008, 04:46:05 pm »
There's a noticable hum / light buzz coming from the flyback. (WG 13K4700 mounted in a Taito style cocktail).

I'm only concerned because it seems a little louder than monitor noise should be. But otherwise monitor works like normal more or less (very subtle slight "waving" of the picture, but thats it).

NO MORE!!

turn the screen volts down on the flyback and raise the brightness on the chassis perhaps.

also when it is up to high you will start to get lines.

I had a Neo Geo machine with a loud buzz coming from the isolation transformer. Turned out to be a little piece of the film winding was sticking out and vibrating against the metal part. I just cut it off with a hobby knife, fixed everything. But being that yours is a flyback unit, I doubt you'll be able to get in there...
