infiltrating my joust cabinet...
« on: March 05, 2008, 10:19:07 pm »
so i just got a hold of my first real cabinet...an upright joust...!

i want to tweak the sticks and buttons & am having trouble getting the cp open...

i can undo the cp latches and when i try to pull the cp forward...the bottom of the glass bezel wants to come with it...kind of like it's connected...

does anyone have any ideas on what is going on...?

thanks...

Ooo, look carefully at the edge where the CP meets the bezel; on my cab, it had a strip of thin foam (like weatherstripping) and was stuck to the plexi.
So a leper walks into a bar and as he gets his beer, a finger falls off. The bartender who is serving him turns and pukes all over the place. The leper, feeling bad, says, "Was it my finger falling off?" The bartender turns to him and says, "No, it's the guy dipping chips into your back."

Yeah, what TelcoLou said :) I have a former Robotron cabinet and it's set up the same way, although mine is missing the foam (I can see where it would come in handy, to help cushion the CP against the glass). I imagine someone probably spilled some soda or something sticky in there at one time and made it stick to the glass. Actually, I may get a small piece of foam and put it in there so the wood isn't up against the glass. I'm sometimes a little concerned when I'm playing an intense game ;)

Not sure how to help with your problem, but would you mind posting some pics of how the sticks are mounted when you get it open. I found a pair on eBay and I am not sure how to install them. I am installing them in wood, but I would still like to see how they were done originally.

Thanks,
Paul

what is this...!?

inside my coin door...there is a leaf switch with a weight on it...

does anyone know what the purpose of it is...?

it almost looks like it'd be some sort of tilt switch or something...

and...

i replaced the player one & two button bulbs with some 12v automotive bulbs...they are really dim...are arcade cabinets 6v...?

thanks...!

The switch is a slam switch.

Voltage on my joust at the bulb is 6.65 v ac.

I have #47 bulbs in mine and they burn nice and bright....

Its to keep people from beating on the game..and on some games you could get a credit if you hit the coin door in the right spot.
