high trackball drilling
« on: February 29, 2008, 10:16:29 pm »
hey everyone, im working on my drilling template for my CP.
I have a Happs 3" high trackball. just wondering on how to cut out for that??
i found these two images from happ. I ahve the mounting plate which goes on the top as well. I want the mouting plate to be recessed so that its flush on the top cause im putting lexan overtop. And the trackball is gonna be mounted form below of course. According to the picture its just a square cutout, but i remember seeing other cutouts for trackballs and they have some sort of oval shape with pointy ends.  whats the correct way to do this? im using 5/8 inch mdf and im gonna get 1/8 lexan bringing the width to 3/4 .

Also since im here I might as well ask a second question. how big would i cut out the hole in the lexan? same size as the hole in the mounting plate? or slightly smaller ? im a total newb when it comes to working with wood and all this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you :)
