Mame-Iknow this has been asked but can't find
« on: February 20, 2008, 09:57:56 am »
Hey guys
I apologize in advance for asking this....but I can't find a forsure answer.

When did mame change the coding what version was the last? I recall years ago you could use like 700 MHZ and run all games full speed..then they had a big programming change. anyone advise? I want to say v.69 or .7 something..... also is there a list somewhere that shows what games have been added with each version? I know there is a txt file with each version but thats a lot to go through.

thx
Jim

One way to know what roms have been added is by going to Maws then clicking on search, when you get the results click on "version" on the top of the list and it should list them in the order they were added.

Here's a chart where aaron giles compares pacman's fps through out the different mame versions.

I'd also say reading this thread will help:

Hey
thats very helpful. i see that most games i like are in .37b.however in order to run CHD games and newer releases like doa and deer hunting what hardware is req? what about psx/dc emulation?  is there a mame hardware req section to explain what hardware will run certain roms?

also if u run older mame do u have to have older roms?will new rom set wrk or no? can they be rolled back?

thx
Jim

Since I have a 400mhz pc. I use mame37b16 which is the fastest. Some of your new roms will work but some won't. The easiest to get roms is by searching google for gp2x mame roms, since the mame version used in that version is mame 0.34 with some extra games addded from the 0.3xx versions.

Some CHD games won't run even with the newest hardware.
