Happy New Year BYOAC!!!!
« on: December 31, 2007, 07:30:10 pm »
I know that there are 4.5 hours until the new year first strikes the USA, but since I've already started my celebrations I wanted to say "happy new year" while I still can.  ;D  I've cracked open a bottle of wine that a former co-worker had left, and while the former co-worker wasn't the greatest of co-workers and left on a relatively nasty event, the bottle of wine he gave me is damned good!  It's a VERY dry red wine and I usually can't stand red wine.  I really love this stuff.  I'm now cooking up some Italian bread with garlic, sage, oregano, olive oil, and fresh chunks of parmesean cheese.  (Freshly purchased from the market at Grand Central a few weeks ago.  Nice hard chunks of greatly aged cheese).

Also, today I finally decided I couldn't hold out any longer and finished routing out the holes for my joysticks and I test mounted them.  They fit snugly and nicely.  The jig I made worked wonders, even if it was about 1/8" too big.  That leaves some nice room for the joystick bases and the bolt holes lined up great and will snugly hold this in place.  I even recessed it deep enough to allow a thin bolt head (1/16" maybe?) to fit in and be flush with the top.  I'm hoping they make bolts with heads like screws.  Nice and flat and not raised too much.

So for those of you, like myself, who are spending new years alone, just think back to what makes 2007 so good and why we should be happy to see 2008.  We are all here because of our love for arcades and arcade machines, so even if you're spending New Year's Eve alone, remember that it's only one day out of the year.  As long as your pretty inebriated, like me, you won't care anyway.   ;D

Going out and getting drunk and dealing with idiots and cops is overrated these days on new years. Spending time at home is where it's at for me. Maybe I'm just getting too old for all that crap.

The sad thing is I'm 27 years old and know completely how you feel.   :dizzy:

That is true.  All of Europe is already into 2008.  About a month and a half ago I made a trip out to Brussels, Belgium.  The best week of my life.  I love going to Europe.  I only hope that my work affords me more opportunities to go over there.  (I did get my picture taken at the Mannekin De Pis over in Brussels.  I also ate some Belgian Waffles there which completely dominate ANYTHING that we have here in the USA.  In addition, I picked up a cuban cigar, and tried some Absinthe.  It was one hell of a business trip.  ;D )

Well, last night wasn't spent alone.  I wound up at a local bar but that's about all I can remember.  There was a tag on my car from AAA saying "Happy New Year", so I must have taken advantage of the free-towing service they offer here in CT on New Years Eve.  (If you get too drunk to drive you can call AAA and they'll tow you and your car home for free).

It's just really odd that I don't remember anything.  I remember talking to some ladies there at the bar and having a lot of drinks.  It's just weird that I don't remember any specifics, or anything that happened after midnight.  Wow!   :dizzy:
