As I have NO skill with artwork... any ideas?
« on: December 30, 2007, 12:00:54 pm »
I have been messing around the last 24 hours with a marquee look for my up coming Cab Project.  Since I have about as much skill with 'drawing', I went about it in a simple design.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please.. slam away.  :dizzy:

I wouldn't say that you have no skill, it looks real good.  Keep up the effort.

I would say that you have way too much white on your marquee.  When it's backlit, it will probably look pretty rough.

Other than that, it's really cool.

The layout isnt too bad but the colour scheme (text especially) is all over the place. Have a look at a few marquees and you'll see that the best stuff is actually pretty simple in design. Your character is purple and black placed on top of a dark gradient background it doesnt contrast well. The font you've chosen for the main title is good but too white as previously commented it'll be blinding when its backlit.

I would begin by clearly deciding what the focus is of your marquee, ie. the name or the character. If its the name it should be right up front, then you could put the character in the background and make it larger. If its the other way round you gotta shrink the name. so it remains visible and make the character larger.

So a form of 'inner glow' with white being the prime color to draw out? *see, little skill with Photoshop*  ;D

Not sure how to make that work, but with a small amount of image breakdown due to increased size, the Name is now in the front and the image is larger to the rear.  I guess it's time I learn how to Vector...

Rather than use the fx of photoshop, just do it by hand with the marquee tool set yor brush to airbrush 65 and your opacity to about 20% and sweep some highlights. It'll look really godd when the backlight is on.

HAA!  :applaud:

Me, do something 'by hand'?

That would be most impressive.
