ArcadeVGA 1 and PC Games
« on: December 21, 2007, 11:58:42 pm »
I want to use my ArcadeVGA to play PC Games. The game, GTA, that I'm currently trying to install says it requires a videocard with "GEForce3" or better.  I'm not sure what the original ArcadeVGA is speced at, but I can't get the game to play.  Should this game with with my video card, or am I having other problems?

I forget now what the ArcadeVGA video card is based on, but I do believe the original version 1 only output 15khz for arcade monitor use only.

(somebody correct me if I'm wrong please)

It refreshes up to PC rates.  I have a multi-sync monitor and I am able to run windows with no problems.  The website only has the specs for Version 2.

How does the Radeon 9250 compare to the GeForece3 (which I think is nVida).  I did notice the game says the card should support DirectxX9 drivers.

I did install it on my laptop and it ran with no problems.

nvidia is responsible for the geforce line

the geforce 3 is a 64MB AGP

the arvadeVGA is 128MB

so the main part already is the arcadeVGA has twice the strength of the geforce 3

what type monitor are you using and what resolution you trying to run it at?

I've tried to run it at 1024x768 and 800x600 with 32 bit color.  I have a Billabs multisync monitor.  The game does start up and give all of the into graphics and then when you try and play the actual game it just quits and puts up the do you want to tell microsoft error dialog.

I reported the error and according to the game manufacture my video card is either not compatible or the drivers are out of date.  My system does show the Ultimarc card as a Radeon 9250 series.  I tried to update the drivers with the standard Radeon drivers and the video card didn't work after that.  I rolled the drivers back and went to the Ultimarc web site.  According to the site there are no new drivers and I should use what came with the CD.

I did install on my laptop and it ran fine.

Didn't work.  When you launch the game it changes the resolution and the game still crashes after the intro screens.  I can't make it far enough into the game to change any of the settings.
