Game Party for Wii
« on: December 19, 2007, 01:28:06 pm »
Has anyone tried this game?  Sound like it would be right up my 4 year old's alley (skii ball!), but doesn't look like it got very good reviews.  It's pretty cheap though, so I may pick it up anyway.

Hadn't seen that yet... does look like fun with the kids, but you're right, those reviews are pretty bad.

I bought it from amazon for $18.  The day I got it, I played it with my wife for about 45 minutes and haven't touched it again.  It's probably worth $20
I don't know anything about little kids so I'm not sure if they'd like it or not.
Here's my initial thoughts after playing it once;

The graphics are pretty bad.
Darts was fun
Table hockey was ok
shuffle board was ok
Don't remember how hoop shoot was
Ping Cup was annoying, my wife could not get it to work properly.  The response with the wiimote was bad and the game went on forever until I got all the cups.
Trivia was ok.

The reason I haven't played it again is because I have COD4, Mass Effect, GHIII, & Puzzle Quest for the 360 which take up all my free time.

DISCLAIMER:  STATEMENT BASED SOLELY ON REVIEWS, NOT ACTUAL PLAY.

Having not played either, I should probably stay out of it - but it seems like Game Party TRIED to do what Carnival Games does much better.  From what I've seen of the screen shots at IGN and others though, Game Party really, really stinks graphically. (edit) Were it myself, I'd take a chance and throw 10 - 20 extra dollars at Carnival Games in a heartbeat over Game Party.

Sounds like it is worth a rental before buying.

I value gameplay way, way, way above graphics.  If a game is fun I will forgive a hell of a lot aesthetically.

Yes, I still play 2600 games regularly.   ;D
