Kaga KZ 20ES-A Monitor cap kit and voltage?
« on: December 14, 2007, 11:11:19 pm »
I obtained a few oddball monitors this summer, and am attempting to cap-em-all and keep the good ones. Most have clean screens so it's worth the effort.

One of them is marked Kaga KZ 20ES-A.   Reading the FAQ here, I found the following tidbits (bolding the applicable part):

Quote
Also note the Sega MC-2000-S , this chassis was never made by SEGA , it is an early Nanao chassis made by a sister company of Nanao called Kaga Denshi The correct model number is KZ-20EN-L this used the standard 12 pin neck board.
They also released a 10 pin version KZ-20ES that was later replaced with a Nanao MS7-20L .

I saw another post on usenet that stated this chasiss was also called the MC-2030-S by Nanao.

So, what is the correct cap-kit for this? Is it the same as the MC-2000-S?   Bob only has 1 Kaga the KZ-19V which I assume is different, given the above comments from the FAQ/usenet.

Also, I assume this is also a 100 VAC chassis, not 110-120V?

It is a MC-2030-S. I have written a copyrighted repair guide with capacitor listing. Shoot me an email at KLayton888@aol.com if you want a copy.

Bob reponded overnight:

Q: What cap kit should I get for the KZ-20ES-A 19"?  Is it the MC-2000-S that you have on the cap kit page?  (I saw no reference that it's the same as the KZ-19V that you do have listed but wanted to check)

I have no idea. There is only a list for the KZ-20 and all versions
should use the same cap list, at least I do not know of any same model
version that ever changed cap lists in any brand. I just did a quick check
of the supplied cap lists & they are indeed identical, so I guess you can
use either the KZ-20 cap kit or the MC-2000 & come out the same.

A bit confusing since Bob doesn't even sell a KZ-20 kit, just a KZ-19.   Guess I'll order the MC-2000 from him.
