Ok i am starting my wall mount, i have stripped down a PC and i'm currently installing XP on it as i type this. I have however found out i don't have a power supply for my screen

So i will not be doing too much on it tonight. Still i have started....

The holes at the front will each hold a plasma plate. As you can see it's just in primer right now i have not decided on a colour yet. I don't know if i will leave the PC in that chassis or just fix the motherboard and hard drive to the inside to save on weight. It's quite heavy already...

My plasma plates are 6" round, i was going to surround them with a neon speaker ring but i could only find those in 10" I really could have done with a 7" as that would help hide and brackets i have to put on the front to hold the plasma plates in place

Well i had lost my XP disc and thought i had found it, anyway i installed XP only to find it's the SP1 install not SP2

Plus side is it's quick, it boots up in about 10 seconds. I have both freebox versions installed and both worked first time without a hitch. It's now blasting out music videos as i type this. The touch screen is amazing, much better than the panel pc i was using before. I must also say a 2.8ghz P4 runs freebox much better than my old P700mhz panel used to.

Got to go and listen to some tunes now

Ok i have now screwed the PC into the unit and mounted it on a table for testing as i wanted to test out my back light idea. It seems to work well although when i set it to flash with the music it was a bit to much so i think i will just leave it on all the time. I just need to figure a way to fix the plasma plates now...

Awesome man. I rikey a rot! What type of lighting is in the back? I didn't see any details in the other replys. Is it neon tubes for computer mods? Those things are awesome.

Yes the tubes are cold cathodes, but they are the ones used in computer mods. I fixed them to the back of the lid/front so you can't see them looking straight on but they give a nice glow around the edge. I then used ebading strips down the sides of the juke so you can't see them from the side.

The sound activation is a bit much i feel it might make people have a fit but on all the time they seem to work really well. Maybe you could back light the screen on your juke using something simular it might look quite cool. You tend to have a ton of lights already though LOL.

I just need to save up $100 for my paint now. Then i can paint it and fix my cam locks and plasma plates and i should be good to go. Oh yeah i might need to get some vinyl lettering done as well.

I plan to build a jukebox someday.
As soon as I finish re-building my first mame machine, then installing a rotate monitor in it, then... there was something else..

I dont' know if it's your jukebox or your video, but that song is playing like about a full step high, which means it's playing fast...which means either your video is jacked up, or your jukebox is...or maybe it just means you like rockin' AC-DC faster than it's supposed to be.

You know, Van Halen used to (and may still) tune down 1 half-step so that it would be easier for Diamod Dave to hit the high notes.

That video is playing at normal speed, might sound stange because the clips were recorded off a mobile phone. It is the same legnth as the track off the album

It's MDF and i don't have any updated pictures. One of my plasma plates broke and since then i havn't done anything with it. I need to get a replacment plasma plate and order the paint to finish it off. Problem is it's fully working as it is and looks pretty cool so i'm not really pushed into finishing it off. Mst of my freetime is going into working on the software right now.

I think we'd be doing the world a public service if we restricted the download and distribution of MAME, Jukebox and related software until people are able to provide photos of their finished projects.

How many of us fall into the 'good enough -its playable' trap and can never be bothered finishing?

I'm still adding the 'finishing touches' to my original upright cabinet I built over a year ago!

Problem is i wrote the software so restricting the download wouldn't have saved me. Hell i was running it on a tablet PC for about 2 1/2 years so i'm lucky to get this far as you are perfectly correct when you say once it's working not much work gets done.

Really all it needs it painting and the dead plasma plate replacing but as i am moving house it will have to wait. I might bring it back into work and continue working on it over here, because it's such a simple design there wasn't really much i could show off on this thred.

Even the pictures you posted already have inspired me to build (at a later date) a wall mounted jukebox that looks like a scaled up version of an iPod Nano with a 'working' touch wheel

LOL it would be real easy to make an ipod front end, but doing a scaled up click wheel might be difficult. People have said mine looks like a big ipod but that wasn't my inention i just wanted a fairly low key wall mount and it came out like that.

Haha... its pretty hard to be original around here... oh well, you only get partial credit because you haven't built one yet

I like the idea, but I have a higher priority on a couple of other projects right now (and the fact that the iphone is out/nano has changed shape doesn't help)... but its still a consideration if I come across some spare slimline PC's
