It is extremely difficult to associate this with building your own arcade controls in any way, except to say that it would seem that there are a lot of fans of the medium.  Comic books, that is.

I have recently read the book The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon and it is one of the best books I have ever read.  It chronicles the birth of the comic book industry, which was extremely bumpy and loaded with scandal.  Even for those who do not like comic books you would certainly come away with a new respect for them, and at the very least having read one of the most entertaining books around.  I highly recommend it.  It's not often that someone wins a pulitzer prize for writing about something like comic books.

By the way...I should clarify that it is fiction.  The main story and main characters are fictitious, but in a historically accurate setting, so at the same time it is very educational (and probably much more entertaining that a straight documentary or biography).  I really cannot say enough good things about it.

For anyone wondering who the author is he is probably better known for writing Wonder Boys upon which the movie by the same name with Michael Douglas and Toby McGuire was based.
