How would this one be? Emerson 20"...
« on: November 08, 2007, 01:45:44 am »
I like the price of it....but is it going to be any good? I'm sure it would be fine for mame and classics etc...How about windows though? I like to surf the net on the cab sometimes.

What, you can't read text on these old dogs?

Any input is appreciated on how you think this would perform for a mame cab.

Also, what exactly do I need to hook it up to the PC?

Looks OK to me (has S-Video).  You may want to check it out in person and check the following two things:
1) Does it power back on automatically when unplugged and plugged back in (so you can have a smartstrip just turn it on with the computer)
2) Does it remember the last channel when powered back on (ie. AUX)

You'll also need a video card with TV/S-Video out (ATI cards usually have good TV out).  Windows won't be the clearest, but you should be fine especially if you run it at 640x480.  If you are only interested in 20" or so, you may also want to check craigslist in your area (or goodwills) for 21" PC monitors.  Those are dirt cheap these days and should be around the same size.

Thanks Andy. I'm gonna take your advice and look around for a 21" monitor. Never even thought to do that.
