K7000 Static/Crackling
« on: October 22, 2007, 10:15:09 am »
Hey guys, I've got a K7000 that on occasion has this crackling interference that blips on and off for about 30 seconds before it settles. The crackling is pretty audible and distorts the picture on the screen.

As for sparks, there are none. No smoking either that I can tell. As mentioned before, this problem appears percentage wise 2/3 of the time I power the game. Every now and then I get that lucky 1/3 where everything goes smooth.

There is also a weird smell during the crackling. It's not quite burning but it smells like it could be eventually if that makes any sense. I'd like to add I had unusual difficulty in attaching the anode to this monitor. Upon discharging to troubleshoot, I found numerous times the anode wasn't even clipped on. Perhaps theres only one side clipped on? I'll check.

I'll post a video of the monitor in action shortly.

Any ideas guys? I've heard similar discussions of moisture causing this problem.

There is the link to the video.  It's a 7MB.mov (quicktime) if anyone cares to see it.

I'll give your solution a try now GS  :)
