21" PC monitor or 17" LCD?
« on: October 21, 2007, 06:24:08 pm »
Hi all..
I have just ordered a 17" LCD monitor.
I already have a 21" flatscreen CRT PC monitor.
In my current arcade cab, I am using a 17" FS CRT PC monitor.
After I acquired the 21" monitor (gift from a friend), I planned on swapping it with 17" CRT I currently have in my cab.
But after some conversations in the main forum, I have decided to put together a rotating monitor for my cab.
I found a good deal (posted on the main forum) on a 17" wall mount LCD monitor.
I figured it would be a lot easier to rotate that than it would be for a 21" CRT.
But I think I could build a frame that would rotate the CRT.
My question is:
What would be your choice?
(1) Rotating 17" LCD
(2) Rotating 21" CRT
(3) Stationary 21" CRT
(4) Stationary 17" LCD
Thanks!

stationary is always simpler.  Depends there how much bang for the buck the trouble would be.  I'm going with rotation, because i know I'll never be happy later if I cheat out.

With a CRT, not that not only is it going to be more difficult to rotate, but you will also need to consider how it's going to degauss after rotation.  Others have automated circuits for this as well, if you search around.  I think the Willy Wonka cab had this if I remember.  He used a CRT.
