Zork - The Original Map.

I never played, but I figured some of you older geeks might get a kick out of this.

EDIT: For the kids among us, this is a map of the original Dungeon, the mainframe version of the epic game. It was split into Zorks I, I, and III for the home computer market.

That rules.  I'm tempted to print it and frame it.

I don't remember where, but I had this years ago.  Never helped as I never finished it.

Very cool though except the older geek comment.   ;D

You don't have to be that old, I beat that game when I was in 3rd grade.

Yeah, but you don't have to have played it 28 years ago to appreciate the map.  I sure wasn't playing it when I was in preschool.

I could never get past the room with the sign that said "Abandon all hope ye who enter here".

I have a feeling I was barely through a small chunk of the game.....

You have entered a dark place.  You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

Very cool.
But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???

Awesome! Thanks for the post...

Man, this is soooo much better than the maps I used to draw when I was playing the Infocom games. Might have to fire up my WinFrotz emulator and enjoy this game again...

I got as far as the Flood Control section before getting bored and giving up. One of my buddies made a map on graph paper. It wasn't as slick as this one, but it was pretty accurate.

Back then, I was one of those damned new school kids that chose Castle Wolfenstein over text and graphic adventures.

I used to spend way too many hours playing the Infocom games on a TI-99 4/A.  I loved all the text adventures.
Ah the joys of youth and the endless amounts of free time that went along with it.

I just gave away my last TI-99 and Infocom stuff to an old man here with health problems.  He was ecstatic - tore into it like a starving man would a steak.  It was awesome.

I actually beat Zork at school - if we completed our allocated work for the week we could spend the rest of the week doing certain approved activities of our choice, and using the class TI99 (later Apple 2e) was one of them.

I remember a friend showing this for the first time.  He was showing me all the commands that you could type in to get information, y'know like LOOK, TAKE, GRAB, etc. and then he showed me the command DIAGNOSE.  The description after this command in this particular location said something like, "Your NOSE is cold and running.".  So I wanted more information and asked him to type DIAGFACE.  He looked at me like I was a moron.

Damn! I remember tooling around with Zork a bit when I was younger, but never played much of it. At the time, I thought the game was maybe around ten rooms in size. I never realized the game-world was actually this big!

:) This map is 28 years old.

Just noticed, the original drawing may be 28 years old, but this one says it was drawn in 01/1982.
