3.40 OE-A vs 1.5.  What is the best firmware.  I am about to buy a PSP and I am clueless on this.

Basically, all PSP's are now able to be flashed with the custom firmwares.  Depending on what f/w is on your PSP will not determine IF you can update to a custom f/w, but how difficult it is to do it.  If you can find a PSP with 1.5 or earlier f/w, then that's the easiest way to go.

So...I guess my next question is should I just buy one off the shelf?  I dont not want a defective PSP but I do want to have to glory of homebrew and stuff.  At the same time I do not have the skills to change bios and stuff.  I would ened up bricking something that is impossible to brick.  How easy is it to change the bios?

Updating the firmware is dead simple.  There are installers out there that do everything for you.  Drop the files on the memory card, then hit 'X' a few times.

Done.
first off your and idiot

Not exactly True anymore. the psp slim isnt hacked as of yet.
whatzcrackn if you know anyone with a hacked psp you can buy a new non-slim off the shelf and have almost no trouble hacking it.
