I'm in the process of installing a WG D9500 and due to its larger size compared to my 19" PC monitor it's giving me nothing but headaches.  I've gotten past the major ones for now but one thing I'm worried about is this tubular black wire (maybe 1/4" in diameter) that goes around the monitor towards the front and a smaller one towards the back.  I'll try and take some pictures.  There are some ground wires that were holding it in place but it doesn't seem to connect anywhere.

My issue is, I've had to push the one in the front back somewhat so I can rotate my monitor. It was rubbing against the hole edge of where my monitor rotates.  Am I going to be out of luck w/ some feature?  I *really* hope it doesn't effect degaussing since that is probably the most important part for me.

Any monitor gurus that can shed some light on this?

This is not a pic from my monitor but it has the similar black wire going around it.  My camera is dead at the moment.  The wire (or bundle of wires) I'm talking about can be seen best on the right hand side.  There is a tie wrap on the lower right of it.

EDIT:  Added picture

thanks,

its the degauss coil, you can cable tie it at each corner of the tube

I was afraid it was that.  How perfectly in place does it need to be to work?  I ask because it's now sitting a little further back then before and a lot more loose.  Since I have a rotating monitor setup, the degaussing is very important.  Without it working correctly, I won't be able to rotate anymore.

Also wondering just how that works if it has no connection to any circuitry?  How does pressing the on board degauss utilize those coils.  I won't lose sleep over this, just curious.  I'm more concerned about it working correctly.    :)

thanks for the info,

It doesn't have to be perfectly in place.

It should, however, have an end that's connected to the main PCB.  You're saying it doesn't?

I went and looked and yep there is a wire that branches off of the main coil and has a small 1 pin header.  This was connected to the main PCB yep. For some reason I thought it wasn't connected.  There is a 2nd smaller one (in diameter) more towards the yoke that has a connection also.

Thanks for relieving my stress.   I was very worried.  :)

Should I try to get the larger one as close to the front as I can?

Nah, it's fine.

Just wanted to say thanks again.  You are right, it degausses fine and the thing is probably 1 to 2" away from where it originally was.  I'm so relieved.  The bezel on the other hand...   :banghead:

Having a rotating monitor setup is quite the pain to get 100% working and looking good, but once it is, it's worth it.
