So I have Mala setup the best I could...
« on: August 05, 2007, 09:41:10 pm »
Now I'm going to have several questions to get it running just how I want it.  We'll start with these questions:

How do I make the font larger in the layout?  Its so small I can't even read the game list.

Is there a way to keep Mala from jumping to the prompt screen when I load up a game?  I think it looks tacky when it does this.  I'd like for it to just stay in Mala until the game loads.

Thanks.

Define 'Prompt screen'. If you mean disclaimer screen there are various ways which a search will reveal  ;D

How do I get to that option in the attached pic?  I'm using a layout called RetroGUI 1.0 by nexus6, if that makes a difference.

And by prompt, I mean the command prompt screen that pops up when you load a game.

New question:

I'm using zsNes for my Super Nintendo games.  One problem I'm having is that when I press the start button and the select button, it also makes the options called "BG LAYER DISABLED/ENABLED" & "SPRITE LAYER DISABLED/ENABLED" to be activated.  I want to take these options off so that when I press those buttons it wont change those.  I hope this makes sense.  I just want those options to be enabled all the time and I don't want it to change when I press those buttons.

Also, in zsNes, I want it to exit out of zsNes when I press Esc, instead of just pausing the game and going into the options menu.

Double click on Zsnes.exe and go to MISC>GAME KEYS. Click on whatever you want to disable and press ESC to clear it. I recommend you clear everything.

Open zsnesw.cfg in your zsnes folder and look for this line ande edit it to look like this
; GUI Disable (1 = Disable GUI, 0 = Enable GUI)

GUIDisable = 1.

Double click on the game list in MalaLayout or choose 'Object Properties' from the View menu.

Do you mean this?

Yes, I believe they were wanting to know how to hide the command prompt window from popping up when a game is selected.

Go into the "Other Emu" tab and then select a specific emulator.   There should be settings for the "Window State" ..... just set this to be "Hidden".   Do this for each emulator you have defined.

How do I make the games scroll faster?  Its a little slow for my taste.  Also, can I make it so the Player 1 joystick goes one game at a time, and the Player 2 joystick goes one page at a time?

1. Wiki answers the speed question.
2. Yes, you can.  Give it a try. In MaLa options, go to Controller tab, Keyboard.  Map joy2 up / down to "x up", "x down".  In the Controller / Options tab, select "use one page for interval".

This worked really well.  But I'd like it if when I held down the player 2 joystick it would keep scrolling.  Instead of having to bump it for each page...

New question: When using FCE Ultra, how do I make it so that when I push Esc it will exit?

Well, I got a modified version to try out that supposedly lets you exit with esc.  So I'll try that...

I don't see how having an I-Pac would make a difference.  It let me do this when I was using Mamewah.  So I don't see why I should be able to do it with Mala...

Mate.... I'm always happy to help if anyone has a real issue.  ;D

But.... I get a little bothered by people who don't search for the answer first.

Going through this thread seems to indicate that you are guilty of that. Your last question has been answered many times here.  ;)

I lot of peolple have spent the time to answer a lot of questions here and on the wiki and Webiste. Have a look so this work does not have to be repeated please  ;)

Actually I did search with no luck.  But I'm not sure I understand.  Should this place be shut down and just leave the search option open so people can have their questions answered?  I could see this place dieing out immensely if no one asked questions that had already been asked.  If you want to keep people around, then I wouldn't complain about someone asking a question that has been asked before.  But fortunately for me and others, it appears that most aren't bothered by it at all.  My thanks goes out to everyone that answered my questions...

Not at all.  ;)

In your case it doesn't just appear to me that you have done a reasonable search considering that some of the answers were on the Wiki/ Website. That is all. Chill  ;D

Check the 2nd post in this thread I kindly :) ask you to check these places and yet multiple questions arise which indictate you have not.

But why would I spend my time answering more questions if you don't take the time to read docs that people (like myself) have spent a lot of time to set up to help new uses. It just does not seem reasonable to me.  :(

FYI: I spend a lot of my time answering questions that have been answered here already (if you search you will see that)  for many years as do other good folk.  But most make a reasonable effort to look for the answer first so I make no comment like I have with you.

Maybe you just need some tips with your search techniques :dunno

Anyway good luck to you Sir  ;)

I don't know anyone who answers more questions here than Loadman.  There were multiple requests and comments through this thread for you to SEARCH and use the WIKI.  A simple search on IPAC yielded this thread where Loadman had already answered the question:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=59399.0

Loadman is constantly answering the same questions.  I'm sure its a lot easier to answer those questions if it at least appears the person asking them has TRIED to help themselves a little bit.
