Vector Car Wheel?
« on: August 03, 2007, 05:03:21 pm »
I just picked up a Hard Drivin' cab in pretty rough shape.  It has water damage on the bottom pretty bad, and on one side, it pretty much goes up the whole way to the fiberglass.  I plan on fixing up the cab and using it for an xbox driving cab, and will have to replace much of the wood that is on the base and sides.

Those familiar with the Hard Drivin' cabs know that it has a picture of half of a car wheel on the front (on both sides).  I figure I can re-finish both sides of the wood part, paint the appropriate parts red, add the black details, and then just slap 2 half wheels on the front, and that should look good (and be a lot cheaper than trying to recreate the side art and make big stickers, as that would be very costly).

Does anyone know of a vector car wheel that is straight on that would work for this (doesn't have to match the style of the actual Hard Drivin' cab, but the perspective does need to be right, strait on shot of the side of a wheel).  I'm attaching a pic from their flyer to show what the real one looks like (I don't have any pics of the one I picked up last night, still havne't unloaded it either, it's just sitting on my truck with a big tarp over it).

Ah, good call.  I drive mine much more than I expected.  Original Xbox or 360?

What about taking a digital camera to your local car dealership?

Regular Xbox.  Your cab is one of the main reasons I want to get this going (your cab turned out great, mine won't have all of the cool little extras like the seat vibrators and such, but I'm will to sacrifice since it should be easier and faster to put together since the cabinet is pretty much already built).

I think I may have found a wheel that will work at istockphoto.com (if you search under the vector illustrations, they have a few different car wheels to choose from).  They don't look the best, but a heck of a lot better than I could create myself :)

Burnout 3 is my favorite racing xbox game right now, you'll have to let us know what games end up being the favorite on your cab...
