Configuring Mamewah with Mess-Ti99_4A
« on: August 02, 2007, 09:35:50 pm »
Hello,

I was wondering If anyone has manged to have
any luck launching Mess as a Ti99_4A Emulator
through Mamewah?

I have manged to trick it into loading just
bare Ti99_4a using 2 differnt methods

1.) by pointing to bios instead of Roms.
But this method is useless no games will load.

2.) After the first method I got to thinking of
alternative methods to make this a reality...

Instead of pointing Mamewah to the exe
I point it to a .bat file that loads
the command prompt then basically types
Mess ti99_4a

This way I can get The ti99_4a up and running without
tying up the rom path from pointing to the bios
as I did earlier.

However no matter what I try Mess appear  uncapable
of Accepting "Rom Paths" or "Rom Extensions".

so this appears useless too...
..................................

Ok I did notice when I used the GUI version and select
the Roms to load if creates a entry of the roms
in this file:

C:\mess\ini\ti99_4a.ini

ti99_4a.ini
contains entry for the Roms to be loaded.

Is It possible maybe to create .Bat files for Each Rom
with the Rom Names
( actually select them from mamewah instead or real roms)

that could write a entry in the ti99_4a.ini file?

I admittadly dont know much about .bat files or what they
are capable of .  ::)

..................................................

This is all I can think of any ideas or input is welcome!

Well a little more progress in a way....

I did finnally discover how to launch The Ti99_4A
through the commandline and use carts that way.

I would have never figured that out on my own
( Its not documented well in Mess )

I found on another forum that I must use -cart1

or for multi carts -cart1 (Cart address here) -cart2 (cart address here)
...........

However still no luck at all getting any cart to load at through
Mamewah!

I did however manage to make a .bat file that if click
will automaticall co to command prompt enter the info
and Lanch Mess>Ti99_4A !

With whatever cart I desire  :)

..............

I'm still wondering If I can use this somehow to Force
Mamewah into Launching the Games I want?

Stilll no ideas anyone?

 ???

Did you try this http://www.99er.net/download2/index.php?act=view&id=134 it does that automatically for you.
You would then use something like Howard's key press kit http://dragonking.arcadecontrols.com/simplephp/ccount/click.php?id=25  to select and launch games.

Yes I know of the 99Menu just would not look right
going through Mamewah.

If I was just trying to use an emulator sure!

But I am close to figuring it out....

as I said I can configure .Bats for every Rom
and the .Bats work perfectly..  :)

I just need to pick the right program to select under
Emulator executable...

One that will open the .Bat file its being sent!

I tried just using explorer.exe but having explorer runing
when using Mamewah just dosn't look right.... ???

But thanks I'll keep tinkering around with it.

Just put down.

### Execution Settings ###
emulator_executable                       PC

And using Howard's key press simulator kit you would only see it for a brief second.

I have figure this out....
I am excited... :)

I added shortcuts to all the Bat files
(the bat files autolaunch the roms)
Then made shortcuts to all Bat files and all of these
in the Root Mess directory C:\mess

Now under Emulator executable I just entered PC
( I had tried that before but had no luck)

now When in Mamewah at first it still didn't work
but when when I went into emulator setting
and generated a new Rom list ....

They all showed up and worked perfectly!

Now I'll just have to make me a pretty layout for
it like all the others widely available.

I hope my experiences here will help anyone else
if they are trying to Get the Ti994A to launch through
Mamewah!

If anyone wants to know more or needs help
setting it up Just email me: josephnelson04(at)suddenlink.net
just replace the (at) with@.. ;)

Thanks everyone for your help and patience...
I'm off to have a little fun!  ;D

Here is a pic of the layout:

Tried to put some elements from the games...

Opinions please... I debated about using the Blue
Color for the background but that Is the Ti994a
Native color for the boot screen....
Still maybe I should have done Black?

Ah well better than default anyway... ;)
