windows start up and shutdown logos

what are the requirements for the windows start up and shutdown logos, size, format etc??  Also where are they located at?  I am using XP.

Check out the info on the Wiki

In 2k/XP it is no longer stored in it's own file like Win 9x. It's an image resource within ntoskrnl.exe. So you need a program that can help you replace the resource image within the exe file. See Wiki.

It might be easier just to set them to not appear and then set things to boot straight into an FE. There's a thread on this currently in main: 'clean...interface'.

Regarding the "Slimm Boot-Logo / The Microsoft Way" method:
Is there a collection of good cabinet-themed image files in the correct format somewhere?
